He was actually playing well this year before the injuries. He's also better than four of our five outfielders.

sorry guys, we only have three outfield positions

And only 1 of them is performing at a respectable level. DFA Jock. Bring him in. He gets hurt, you're no worse off than you were before.

.292/.373/.446 this year in 62 ABs, hell I would definitely take a flier on him

Not much in the slugging dept, but OBP high as always.

Why did Beane release him?

Bradley was pretty upset about not coming back and being a starter. He also has been on the DL 3 different times this season and has only played 7 games in between stints (4 games after his first DL stint then went back on the DL for the second time, then came back and played 3 more before getting put on the DL for the third time, and now has come back and played 1 game).

Why has he been on the DL?

two DL stints because of a hamstring issue, and one because of a calf issue.

I wouldn't bother with him. The chances that he will remain healthy are low, and when Lou doesn't play him everyday he will be upset.

I liked him two years ago and I still do. Without knowing much about his injuries, my initial reaction is to say bring him in and put him in CF. Pie takes over full time there next year. I'm guessing Bradley can play pretty much every day between RF and CF.

Oakland pays his salary still. The Cubs would have to pay next to nothing. Worst case scenario, he plays a handful of games, and is a 100X better version of Angel Pagan. Best case, he actually gets on the field and platoons with Floyd and/or Pie.

I believe one his DL stints was because of some shananigans that did not happen during an actual game.

Outside of the constant injuries, I wouldn't mind having him. However, I don't see the Cubs moving Barrett for a poor clubhouse presence and then turning around and adding Bradley, who has a bit of a history of being a pain in the behind.

I found this old link funny..

As a Cub fan, I know I'm in the vast minority on this one. But I would prefer Bradley over Pierre. He's a much better player, he's easier to trade for, and he's cheaper so they can spend what it takes to get Furcal and another outfielder. If Dusty can finally earn his money and prevent Bradley from erupting, then this would be worth a flier.

I find it funny that the majority of random fans have a better understanding of player value than our own GM...freakin sad.

We could have had Bradley and his nothing salary + Nolasco, Pinto and Mitre.

All of whom could have been traded for Adam Dunn, leaving us with an OF of Bradley, Pie, and Dunn, which is certainly better than Alfonso and the Banana Brothers. We never would have had to sign Alfonso in the first place and could have spent that money on getting a much needed SS or quality depth in the rotation.

The Cubs just traded Barrett, despite what they say publicly, probably completely due to the Zambrano incident. I'd say there is about a 0.0000001% chance the Cubs would go after Bradley with his background.

We could do a lot worse in terms of contracts and talent than to pick up Milton Bradley. It would be a low-risk, high possible reward type signing. At worst, you get a better 4th OF than Pagan. At best, you fill the gaping hole in RF.

That said, the Cubs won't do it. It would be way too intelligent for Hendry.
