Z's OPS (.758) currently tops the OPS of:

- Barrett

- Pie

- Theriot

- Murton

- Izturis

- Jones

- Koyie Hill

For reference, in 2005, Z put up an impressive .300/.300/.463 line, and for the time being is performing up to that.

Hey Fred, I don't suppose you have LD% for the players so we can get an idea of whether their BABIP is too far out of line?

If Zambrano ever blew out his arm and couldn't pitch, I wholeheartedly believe he would end up back in baseball as a 1b,3b,DH. He probably should hit 6th in our lineup the way it is now...

He supposedly takes (or has taken) grounders at first base during BP and wants to play at least one inning in the outfield in his career. He really is that crazy.

BY FAR my favorite. And it's not even close.

As bad as he was last year, his OPS this year is over a hundred points lower than it was in 2006.

That's simply mind-boggling to me.

You guys are forgetting that he knows how to leadoff. He's a leadoff hitter. Sometimes you have to look past the stats.

I went very early to a game a few years ago, the Darryl Kyle game. He was out there shagging flyballs. After a few diving catches, one of the coaches came out and chewed him out. He totally was just tossing his body around.

I don't know if it's that crazy. Get a big lead, throw him out there for the hell of it. It's not like outfield is very hard.

Don't forget he can throw some heat left-handed, too. He's got two arms to blow out if he still wants to pitch

Good thing they got him on the cheap.

can we please rename this the "Sample Size Thread"

Why?

33 ABs for Z, v 2.0 is a big enough sample size- only takes 25 to 30 for a true sample (depending on who you ask and who you believe).

What makes you so angry about people pointing out that a Cubs pitcher is outproducing many Cubs hitters?

What's his OPS Against looking like? I would guess that, even when Z's own OPS was at its highest, he was still in the neighborhood of what he had been giving up to that point in the year.
