Since Sean Casey sucks couldnt the Tigers themselves use a LH bat.

And some bullpen arms. Ours aren't good, but these guys had Jose Mesa back there until recently.

Jones and Novoa for Andrew Miller

Who's with me?

That is the 1st time i have heard of Novoa... i had just forgotten about him.

Doesn't Roto get their stuff from online newspapers? Any link to the whole article?

Rotoworld gets a lot of its stuff from Fox Sports. I have an RSS for various Fox Sports topics (general baseball and specific Cubs news) and I have seen Rotoworld list the same snippets verbatim.

Here's where the story originated:Fox

You'll also find the story they listed about Soriano in that link...

I hate that Rotoworld doesn't credit the source. :x

So if the Cubs invested in cloning and got tissue samples from Koufax & Williams, did the cloning, raised the clones to maturity...would we still have to draft them or could they just play for the team? :-k

I think he's too old to play for the frontier league with their rules. But I'd love to boo him down here in Evansville. I could even give our pitchers a solid scouting report. Breaking stuff low and away = out every time.

The Cubs would have never played Williams because he wasnt aggressive enough and Koufax would have been traded away after his first couple of years of struggling.

Sorry if this should be in another thread, feel free to merge mods. Per Rotoworld:

The Cubs are attempting to trade Jacque Jones, a move that would clear the way for Felix Pie to play regularly in center field.

There was little interest in Jones over the winter even though he was coming off a fine season, so why would anyone want to take on his contract after he's opened this year at .248/.309/.352? The Padres, White Sox and Twins are among the contenders in need of a left-handed bat, but Jones wouldn't be as much of an upgrade as the Padres might want and the other two don't seem like matches. The Cubs might end up keeping Jones and using him as their primary right fielder, opening up the possibility of a Matt Murton deal.

YAY!

What all of this has proven to me is that the Cubs have taken a decent platoon OF (Jones) and a good young OF with potential (Murton) and turned them into worthless trading pawns by not giving them enough consistent at bats. Playing 2 games and then sitting 4 has been a disaster for both of them.

We're not going to get anything of value for Jones. Just release him and move on already.

Chris De Luca is trying to get the Mets to look at him.

"Trade talk

The New York Mets are in the market for outfield help at a time when the Cubs are expected to renew their efforts to trade Jacque Jones."

Please trade him for anything other than another outfielder

If that outfielder has options, I'll take him.

Carlos Gomez or Fernando Martinez don't appeal to you? :D

Yeah, I know, that's unrealistic. I'm hoping the Cubs could get this guy, this guy, or this guy in a deal.

A B-level pitching prospect would be fine by me.

I didn't check out your links, but if any of those guys have two arms and a pulse, I'll take 'em.

Benmaller.com is reporting:

The Los Angeles Dodgers designated Brady Clark, an outfielder the Rockies liked this past winter, for assignment. He bats right-handed, and the Rockies' current need is for a left-handed bat off the bench..

A left-handed bat off the bench sounds a lot like Jones. Pay part of his salary and take some low prospect from the Rockies.

There are 64 major league outfielders with enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting title.

Jacque is number 62.

Three of the bottom four have been employed as regular outfielders by the Chicago Cubs at some point within the past five years.

I'm sure we'll pick up the fourth one at some point.
