Sorry if this should be in another thread, feel free to merge mods. Per Rotoworld:

The Cubs are attempting to trade Jacque Jones, a move that would clear the way for Felix Pie to play regularly in center field.

There was little interest in Jones over the winter even though he was coming off a fine season, so why would anyone want to take on his contract after he's opened this year at .248/.309/.352? The Padres, White Sox and Twins are among the contenders in need of a left-handed bat, but Jones wouldn't be as much of an upgrade as the Padres might want and the other two don't seem like matches. The Cubs might end up keeping Jones and using him as their primary right fielder, opening up the possibility of a Matt Murton deal.

I think the Matt Murton deal is far more likely. We won't find a taker for Jacque.

we found a taker for neifi. We can find a taker for Jacque

I've heard that logic before and I don't buy it. Taking on Neifi and his entire contract was a bizarre move by the Tigers and it doesn't mean that anyone will take Jones. If bizarre events could reliably be replicated they wouldn't be bizarre.

I don't care if we can't get anything of value for Jones. If we can just get someone to pick him up, that's enough for me.

Hundley for Karros and Grudzielanek? :D

Although I'm sure those bad contracts balanced out.

Doesn't Roto get their stuff from online newspapers? Any link to the whole article?

This might be it:

Around the horn

The Cubs are renewing their efforts to trade outfielder Jacque Jones after deciding Sunday to promote Felix Pie to be their everyday center fielder. Jones, a left-handed hitter, should get plenty of playing time in right this week; the Cubs likely will face right-handers in six of their seven games against the Brewers and Braves. Cliff Floyd, the team's other left-handed hitting outfielder, has been out since last Wednesday due to inflammation of cartilage in his rib cage.

It's from Ken Rosenthal.

Enough for you, but enough for Hendry? Jim got to the point where he was willing to give Neifi away. I'm not so sure he'd do the same with Jacque.

Times like this I wish it was a video game and you could force the other team to make the trade.

Haha, I love those games.

Jones for Pujols, anybody?

If we want to trade Jones we're going to have to give him a start against every righty (and zero lefties) from now on. He's going to have to bounce back (he isn't great, but he isn't that bad) a little bit to get someone to bite. Else we're going to need someone to become desperate because of injury.

We must trade Jones, even if we pay over half his salary. He simply does not fit with any short term or long term plans anymore. Hendry should have sucked it up in the offseason and taken what was available for Jones, but now he'll have to eat the contract to trade Jones or take on a contract that's just as bad or worse from some other team.

Sadly, I agree. I think he could have easily dealt Jones this offseason if he'd taken a lower grade prospect. I think he overvalued Jones and thought he'd get more if he held out till someone got desperate midseason, and well....oops.

Since Sean Casey sucks couldnt the Tigers themselves use a LH bat.

And some bullpen arms. Ours aren't good, but these guys had Jose Mesa back there until recently.

Jones and Novoa for Andrew Miller

Who's with me?

Send him to the Gary Southshore Railcats.

Then I'd only have to pay 9 buxx to get a Front Row ticket to go Boo him.
