I have lurked here for quite some time and really never planned to post. Ever.

However, I can't stand by while the most hated Cubs player in history doesn't even get a mention.

It's beyond all understanding how this list can NOT include the villain of Game Six.

Have you all forgotten who blew that game?

Have you all forgotten how much Alex Gonzalez sucks?

Juan Pierre was 3 for 5 with an actual extra base hit that day. He's inescapable in how he ruins the Cubs.

Easy Choice: Todd Hundley

Agreed. A lot of those other guys were miscast by bad management. Most being role players who were made regulars. Todd Hundley got a boatload of money and just plain stunk!!!!!!!!!

he was a tool, but hendry actually made a positive out of him when all was said and done

Here's the lineup

CF Juan Pierre

2nd Davey Rosello

1st Jerry Mumphrey (took PT away from Grace and Palmeiro)

C Todd Hundley

LF Mitch Webster

3rd That guy that made the should have been an error that kept Wood's 20 K game from being a no hitter

RF The 2004 version of Sammy Sosa

SS Larry Bowa

P Guy Hoffman

RP Paul Rueschel

Closer- Goose Gossage or Dave Smith

He gets about 80 percent of the blame for Game 6 IMO, with Prior getting about 10, Alou getting about 5, the fans as a whole getting about 4, and Bartman perhaps 1.

But, he hit three game-winning home runs in 2003. Without those dingers, the Cubs might not even make the playoffs (we won the division by 1 game).

Hundley should be a warning to the Cubs when they think about what they'll do with Barrett. Hundley did next to nothing early in his career. During his age 26-28 seasons he exploded onto the scene as one of the top hitting catchers. But he suffered a series of injuries and began to breakdown by the time he was 30. He had a resurgence at 31 in partial playing time, but that turned out to be a fluke as he reverted to non-peak form after signing with the Cubs at 32.

As Barrett moves into his early 30's, the Cubs can't make the same mistake.

I went with Pierre.

Some of these guys, like Hundley and Blauser, were disappointing, but predictably bad (Hundley in Chicago was very similar to most of his non-peak years, Blauser's time in Chicago was practically a mirror image of 3 of his previous 4 seasons), but all these guys cost was money.

Pierre, on the other hand, cost money and prospects. He was predictably terrible, but the Cubs went out of their way to acquire him because of an over-the-top misguided desire to find a stereotypical leadoff man. Even though he was only here for 1 year, he pretty much defines the wasted opportunity that has been the Jim Hendry era Cubs.

yeah, that was very bad.

tough choice, but I went with 4-3 for a few reasons. 1) what they gave up to get him; 2) seeing him leadoff every single day; and 3) so many people think he's good.

Also known as Kevin Orie.

My vote for Hundley just broke the tie between him and Pierre. There is plenty of craptacular play to choose from on the list, but he was a pure and true a-hole, so he got my vote.

Plus, Baker and Hendry weren't on the list. (Though Baker wore a uniform and a number on his back, so I think we should try to squeeze him in on a technicality.)

They're included in similar polls for managers and other non-player personnel.

you probably took him for granted because he wasn't that good when he was here. Combine the idiotic baserunning and lousy fielding with the disappointing bat, and there wasn't a lot to enjoy about the Moises Alou era.

Disappointing bat???? You're kidding right?

He hit .293 in 04 with a career high 39 HRs

And for the record, he was 8-8 in stolen base attempts in 02, his first year as a Cub.

04 was the last of a 3 year contract. When you sign a big 3 year deal, it helps to produce in the first year if you want people to appreciate what you bring to the table.

I went with Slappy.

We use to make fun of him when he was with the Marlins. He's sucks so bad it hurts. Then the Cubs traded three decent pitching prospects for him and his bloated contract just so Jimmy could have his "lead-off" man.

Then he doesn't even have the decency to strike out every once in a while or grow his awsome pornstache back. He's a one tool player.

I went with Neifi. Not only was he the worst player of all the ones listed, the way he acted on the field drove me insane. Every time he walked over to the mound to say something to a pitcher I wanted to vomit.

Nobody needed a case of Micitan more than Neiffi.
