Barrett is definately being made the scapegoat for this one.

It's not warrented?

For round 2? Maybe. I can't know if he was being yelled at from the clubhouse or not... but round one wouldn't have happened if not for Z instigating it. Though honestly I blame Lou for not handling it after one fight.

But Z's getting a free pass for his "passion" and Barrett is getting blasted. It's a double standard and considering each of their lackluster performances to this point, I hardly see the justification for it.

Lou also seemed to throw our good buddy Hendry under the bus there as well.

Hopefully the bus is ok.

Yeah, if anyone has any Dunkin Donuts stock, nows the time to unload.

So do we start purging players again for the sake of Chemistry? What's next? We trade them for guys who can catch the ball?

What I'd like to be next? Start building a team that knows how to actually play, regardless of what that means for the current players.

This team is a $115 million turd. Any notion of untouchable players is ridiculous.

as i predicted in the game thread...

dave kaplan is already throwing out the "is this the spark that turns this team's season around?"

meatball.

Hey, it worked in Major League 2.

Its about time he said it!

The thing is though, he's got every single outfielder playing out of positon except Soriano. He's got Theriot everywhere.

Obviously the guys need to catch the ball. However, aside from Barrett's bone headed playes most of the errors have been physical not mental.

I think I'll assign blame thusly

33% to the players

33% to Lou for playing them out of position

33% to Hendry for putting together a team of players that don't fit

The Cubs are less than the sum of their parts, sadly.

Lou also said "What the what the heck are we supposed to do? Ya know? I know what I would do.Ok.But we'll leave it at that."

Wonder who thats directed at? I'm also wondering why Randy Bush had a press conference.

That "catch the ball" comment could have been directed at a bunch of people today, really.

I interpreted both comments to the whole team rather than just Barrett. There were quite a few balls that should have been caught today that weren't and the baserunning has been a joke all year by everyone on the team. I was happy to see Lou get a little aggitated at the end of the press conference. I've been wondering if Lou has been on downers all year with all of the calm and mellow statements he has made while his team continued to embarass themselves daily.

I like when Lou tosses players under the bus. Good times.

Yea I prefer the "no accountability" method. I think everyone should pretend like absolutely nothing is wrong and continue as is.

Randy Bush probably had a press conference because situations like this demand upper management oversight. Lou has obviously lost control of the team, and since Jim apparently wasn't available, Randy was the next best thing.

At first I assumed they'd traded Barrett inside of two minutes, though.

The more I think about it, I think Barrett deserves blame! Carlos went up to the clubhouse while MB was on the bench. Obviously, Barrett ended up following Z and a second fight ensued. That was unnecessary.

MB has played horribly this year. Hell, his stupidity turned an already bad outing into a rout (coupled with some of the other dumb things he's done in recent games...)

i think it is an absolutely great and wonderous thing of beauty that has happened today!!!

this is just what needed to happen...hopefully some real changes can start being made now...seriously...it is about time...it way past time

thank god for hotheaded simply horrible baseball players!!!

yay!!!

this has been the most exciting thing that has happened all season long

You can't be serious.

No kidding. People wer eon Dusty's case (and rightfully so) because there was no accountability in his clubhouse, and now Lou is getting it for the opposite? Silly.

This is EXACTLY the sort of thing this team needs.

Would Barrett have followed Z down there if Z hadn't started the first fight? Or if Lou had taken control?

And who knows? Maybe Z was shouting profanities about Barrett's mother from the clubhouse?

Long story short, Z at the very least antagonized Barrett and goaded him into the first confrontation. Was Barrett wrong to follow Z to the clubhouse? Absolutely. But this wasn't near so much his fault as Lou is pretending it is.

And here I was thinking Z was the one with split personalities

zambrano is the #1 pitcher and is playing like he should be in Iowa. I think his performance is hurting his team a lot more.

I've heard of beating yourself, but I haven't heard of following yourself. :D

So two players just got in a fight and there's no one in the clubhouse to seperate them or anything? It's not the players who are idiots.

And Barrett definitely doesn't deserve to be the only one to blame, Z does too. Gosh, a bunch of idiots all over the place.

And thanks for dropping your trade value, dolts.
