Troy Percival is making a comeback to the majors and has been hittinig 97mph on the gun recently. Hendry almost landed him at the deadline a few years back and has courted him in free agency in years past. With the Cubs recent bullpen struggles and Dempster to the rotation maddness might the Cubs take a look at Troy

Hmm...interesting. Hard to say if I'd want the Cubs to go after him without seeing how he looks. I guess it doesn't hurt to take a look at him.

I've been saying all along it would've made more sense to snag Percival and see if he can't be an 8th inning guy than demote Gooz to the pen.

According to that article, he says he HASN'T been throwing 97-98 mph, but he thinks he can still get batters out.

Yeah, huge difference there.

I'm not interested in a Rod Beck situation where a once great closer tries to get by with lesser stuff. He'd have to have some legit numbers for me to think this was worth the time.

unless he ends up living in an RV in Des Moines and will let fans drink beer with him after games

And then go into rehab.

Wade Miller thinks he can get batters out too.

That just might be the greatest thing ever. I'm glad we had Beck, it was hilarious. My friends still laugh about his effeminate prance to cover first base in the 1998 LDS against the Braves. Doubt anyone remembers that, but it was great.

Boy, the redbirds sure are desperate.

It's official. WGN reported he signed with the Cards before tonight's game. He'll be assigned to AAA, I think.

I'll always remember him not getting his fat ass over to cover first in Milwuakee early in 1999. Grace threw the ball to nobody, and I think the Brewers came back in the 9th and ended up winning.

God, did I hate him after that.
