168 ERA+ 1.23 WHIP

vs.

Shawn Richard Hill

131 ERA+ 1.08 WHIP

Least statistically lopsided pitching match-up we've had all series.

Do this, Gooz. Let's get the sweep.

Dear Cubs,

Taking walks obviously leads to runs. Please keep doing it.

Thank you.

Make sure you direct that to the hitters.

Sweep the Gnasty Gnats please.

I just had a flashback to that game against the D'Backs in 04 or 03 where the park (the whole Chicago area, actually) was just flooded with bugs.

You managed to make it past 1700 posts without figuring it out... on this board? We must be losing our touch.

What does ERA+ mean?

http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/pitch_glossary.shtml

ERA+ - the ratio of the league's ERA (adjusted to the pitcher's ballpark) to that of the pitcher. > 100 is above average and < 100 is below average.

Think of it as being sort of like an IQ scale. 100 = league average

higher is good then?

Take a look at Rich Hill's in the previous game thread and tell me if you have your answer. ;)

Why do we go to Guzman after Hill? Shouldn't it be Lilly? Either way, whatever, it'd be nice to see Guzman start after a long layover.

Btw, Cubs lose in a non-competitive game. 6-2 on a late Aramabomb to save us from the shutout.

Lou has been waiting to break up the two left-handers in the rotation ever since they got put together. Plus, they decided that they'd rather let Guzman get his first start out of the way at home against a worse offense than have to face a team like the Phillies at their place for his first start.

Washington Nationals Vs. Angel Guzman

No National has ever faced Guzman in a regular season game.

Ted Lilly Vs. Shawn Hill

Lilly's the only Cub who's faced Hill. Looks like it was during interleague...

I hope Lou doesn't pinch hit with Lilly...
