Washington Nationals Vs. Angel Guzman

No National has ever faced Guzman in a regular season game.

Ted Lilly Vs. Shawn Hill

Lilly's the only Cub who's faced Hill. Looks like it was during interleague...

I hope Lou doesn't pinch hit with Lilly...

Why do we go to Guzman after Hill? Shouldn't it be Lilly? Either way, whatever, it'd be nice to see Guzman start after a long layover.

Btw, Cubs lose in a non-competitive game. 6-2 on a late Aramabomb to save us from the shutout.

Lou has been waiting to break up the two left-handers in the rotation ever since they got put together. Plus, they decided that they'd rather let Guzman get his first start out of the way at home against a worse offense than have to face a team like the Phillies at their place for his first start.

Heh...then put Hill #1 where he belongs, Z at #2 and Lilly #3.

The order really means absolutely nothing.

Yes and no. In the grand scheme, it means nothing but a superficial form of ranking the quality of your pitchers...but, since Lou does want to seperate the lefties, voila, best of both words. Ultimately, I wanna kinda see Zambrano get some added reminder that he is not this team's ace.

Per Rotoworld Cedeno will be sent down to make room for Guz.

Good decision. He needs to go down and work on his patience and discipline.

It's probably not good for Z and thus ultimately for the Cubs to remind him that he's not the ace. Besides, sticking Z between Hill and Lilly during May doesn't even send that type of statement.

Whoopedy-doo. I know I've been harsh on the guy, but I'm sick of his emotional issues and I'm worried about his worsening negative stats...anything that puts it in his head that he "deserves" ace money and years when the Cubs and he iron out his deal annoys the hell out of me. I'm really praying that Guzman turns the corner a la Hill so we can trade Z for a serious offensive upgrade.

Tribune

When the Cubs activate Angel Guzman for Sunday's game, infielder Ronny Cedeno will be sent to Triple-A Iowa, meaning outfielder Felix Pie will stay for a while.

While the club made no official announcement, Cedeno was seen packing his bags after Saturday's loss. He was hitting .097 and said he didn't want to talk about his demotion.

I feel sorry for the guy but the Cubs need people who can produce on the ML team. Hopefully, he can work on his offense in AAA.

Got a question for everyone: going by our current rotation who will I see play the Phillies on the 13th?

Assuming Gooz stays in the rotation and starts the 12th, it would be Lilly.

Sweet I'd be cool with that.

Right-hander Shawn Hill said that his left shoulder, which he hurt running the bases against the Marlins on April 20 and aggravated on Tuesday, is very sore, but he still doesn't expect to miss his start against the Cubs on Sunday.

Maybe we can get a bunch of runs off of him early and get to the bullpen early...

Could be likely. If he's complaining about soreness, I see some runs bunched up, then an early exit. .

I just posted this as an FYI. I hope that they wouldn't let him pitch if he were really injured.

What's so positive about breaking up lefties? A good pitcher is a good pitcher no matter who starts before or after.

I saw the name "Hill" in the thread title and thought somebody had screwed up the Cubs starter for the game.

Yea same here. I spent a few seconds staring at the subject wondering how it could be possible. Then I wondered if I still knew how to read.

Unlike a certain other team may have done to their pitchers? :P

Seriously, a pitcher with a sore shoulder? Well injuries do happen as all Cubs fans know.
