what's with the sub of Murton Pie aint that much faster?

Really? I don't know for a fact, but I thought Pie was much faster than pretty much anyone else except Soriano.

I don't know that 1/100 of a second is going to make a difference in scoring, esp. with an unproven rookie.

Like somebody else said though, it was mainly a defensive substitution-Pie in center and Jones in right is a much better defensive alignment than Jones in center and Murton in right. The extra speed was just icing.

Pie is much faster, and a much better defender. It's a perfectly justifiable move.

The only qualm I have is that he's now used Soriano, Floyd, Jones, Murton and Pie in the game.

Soriano's starting to crush the ball.

Though trying to clear the fence on every at-bat. Why!

He hit that ball well and it would have been out of any other part of the park.

I'd rather he just concentrate on making good contact, which it sounds like he did.

I agree

I also don't think he was looking to hit a homer as much as he was looking to hit the ball hard.

Ohman coming in for LaRoche

he better get this guy

If he throws 30-40 curveballs, we might just see a murder on live tv.

Is LaRoche really hitting .146? Better not let him beat you LOOGY man

He did say they'll all get a chance to play.

Theriot, Ward, Cedeno and Blanco are still on the bench. I'm not that concerned. Although I do think he tends to burn through his bench early and often.

My freaking power went out right as they were starting back up. What have I missed?

My fantasy team says yes he is hitting .146

Is Dempster really in now? You're pretty much going to burn him up for today if you ask him to get 4 outs right now.

I find it interesting he's using Dempster in extended closer outings like this. Do you think it's because he used to be a starter, so Lou figures he can lean on him a bit more than a "normal" closer?
