I wasn't quizzing anybody. I knew that was the trivia question on one of last week's games and I didn't see the answer.

I guessed Glendon Rusch or Lance Dickson.

Wait... seriously?

Only 2 lefties have done it in the Modern Era:

Hippo Vaughn 17-19

Dick Ellsworth 63

Who was the lefty who won his 300th with us?

Check out Lance Dickson's numbers. Definitely a joke.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only southpaws with 300 wins are Steve Carlton, Warren Spahn, Eddie Plank, and Lefty Grove. And I don't think any of them played for us.

No, not seriously.

Did Lance Dickson even pitch 20 games?

Dickson was drafted in the 1st round of the 1990 draft. Made his ML debut on August 9, 1990 and played his final game on August 18, 1990. Did he get injured or could he just not get the job done?

hehe, you correctly parked that curve ball.

The other Cub that did it besides Mad Dog was Grover Alexander- a righty.

Also very interesting is that the Yankees (Niekro/Clemens), Cubs (Maddux/Alexander), and Red Sox (Young/Grove) are the only teams ever to have 2 people hit 300 while in uniform with them in the Modern Era. I dont think that is going to be broken anyway soon unless Glavine or Johnson get traded.

Hell, our last lefty starter to win more than 10 games was back in the late 80's I think.

Greg Hibbard won 15 in 93.

Early 90's then. Point remains the same.

He got injured; I don't recall if it was his shoulder or elbow. He pitched some more in the minors after 1990 but never made it back to the majors.

Moyer 87, Krukow 80, and Trout in 83 and 84 where the 80s occurences.

Heredia almost did it out of the pen a few years ago.

Only because he blew so many leads.

Lance had serious arm/shoulder injuries. They were such that they just shut him down and he was never heard from again. I dont think they could fix him. I remember being really excited about him at one time.
