You just beat me to it, but I'll post Rotoworld's take:

Brett Myers-S- Phillies Apr. 18 - 5:07 pm et

The Phillies have decided to make Brett Myers into a setup man to make room for Jon Lieber in the rotation. He'll work in the seventh and eighth, as well as close when Tom Gordon is not available.

Incredible. This is perhaps the biggest overreaction to a lousy start that we've ever witnessed. Myers earned the Opening Day start for the Phillies after back-to-back fine seasons and had a great spring. He was coming off back-to-back poor starts, but he had struck out 19 in 15 1/3 innings. Short of turning Ryan Howard into a shortstop and benching Jimmy Rollins, we can't think of anything else the Phillies could have done to better sabotage their chances for this year. Myers needs to be held on to in mixed leagues, as the Phillies might figure out in a couple of weeks just how bad of an idea this is.Source: FOXSports.com

This is just terrible. The Phillies are dumb.

by the way, brett myers has statistically been the phillies' best starter the past two years. To put this decision in Cub terms, it's like shifting Angel Guzman to the rotation right now and putting Carlos Zambrano in Bob Howry's spot.

It's actually worse than that, because at least Guzman is young with a lot of potential. Lieber is old and past his prime.

Lets see....

33% of their roster is composed of former WhiteSux or Cubs players...and they are off to a slow start? Gee, who would have thunk it.

6 starters and 5 spots. Garcia, Hamels, and Moyer have 3 spots taken...so that leaves Eaton, Leiber, and Myers. Neither Myers or Eaton were getting it done, so one had to go...just shocked it wasnt Eaton. Myers does have stuff to be a better reliever than Eaton...more of a power pitcher...but ya, taking out the ace is not a good message to send to the club, unless you are really trying to shake them up.

quick let's trade for Myers before the Phillies get a brain.

you're assuming that hendry has one.

yeah, guzman isn't a good comparison. it's like taking zambrano out of the rotation last year to put rusch or scott williamson in the rotation.

Where's Abuck? hahahahahahaha!

manuel needs to get fired asap.

My favorite part is his justification.

We think Myers will, over the course of the year, get in 65-70 games, probably. As a starter, it would be 35.

I suppose that's a true statement. Some might argue that 220 IP out of one of your best pitchers is better than 70 IP, but those people aren't stupid, so Manuel isn't persuaded.

On ESPN they showed the high/low lights of the argument he got into with the reporter and he said:

"I done growed up a long time ago"

Where is he from West Virginia?

Finally, out of the blue, Manuel drops this: He's putting his No. 1 starter, Brett Myers, into the bullpen. There was five seconds of silence. Literally. I timed it later. Then laughter. Much laughter. The beat writers attempted to convince Manuel that he was joking. They stared at each other. Literally, jaws were dropped. One writer offered to bet Manuel $100 that he was kidding. Finally, they realized he was serious.
