why didn't Quade send Soriano on Riot's single??

Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up.

it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score

The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call.

Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat.

none of those guys have gotten a hit today.

give me a break.

freel threw home and it was cut off because soriano was standing on 3rd.

Give me a break, they should have forced the action when runs are scare. Force them to make a good throw. Quade sent Theriot is a similar situation in MIL (the CF had the ball and if it hadn't been for a great slide he was out).

You have your 3-4-5 hitters due up with nobody out. Why risk making an out at the plate?

Oh yeah, this is the Chicago Cubs, should have sent him.

Primarily because those guys had no hits against him and it was the 6th inning. They only got 2 runs off of him the last time

FWIW, holding Soriano at 3rd was the right play with nobody out IMHO

QFT.

The blame is not on Quade for that run not scoring; it's on the two hitters that followed.

I usually think people are to hard on JJ but the blame goes to him. If he just makes contact it is a tie game.

He tried to do that. That was a swing i hardly ever see jock do. the pitch was just way to outside to try that.

I asked this on another board I post to - has anyone made the requisite Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference today?

I read and enjoyed the Hitchhikers Guide but I'm missing something here. Please explain.

whatever...you're just mad b/c the cubs didn't score. you weren't saying crap about it until it looked like the cubs weren't going to score.

making the first out at home with no outs and the heart of the order coming up in a 1-0 game is about as stupid as it gets.
