The Cubs are about to lose 4 of their first 6 games at home to start the season. (Pretty sure if it wasn't for the postponed third game against the Stros, the Cubs would have been swept) Doesn't that just make you feel all tingling after what the Cubs did in the offseason.

The Cubs players needs to "man up" and stop playing like first yr t-ballers.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We should call the whole season a waste because we will lose 4 games at home, three without an all-star batter in the lineup. Heck, why would we want to cheer on the fact Cubs pitchers have given up one run in the last 22 innings?

We can cheer that, and then think about how we wasted a great stretch of pitching.

Too early to call a Jones DP?

If Jones grounds into a double play to leadoff an inning, he's pretty talented.

That's not true. I said it at the time. My post didn't come after the inning was over. As soon as Theriot hit the ball, I thought Soriano would tie the game.

There's no guarantee he would have been out. There is also nothing wrong with forcing them to make perfect throws.

If he sent Soriano there and he was thrown out at home would you be saying that testing Freel's arm was the smart thing to do? I doubt that. You would likely be saying how horrible of an idea it was to make the first out of the inning at home plate with the Cubs down 1 and the heart of the order coming up. It was the right move to hold Soriano there. Most times, the Cubs 3-4-5 hitters are going to at least get that one run home in that situation.

I disagree. For the last time, I was expecting him to be sent. If he's tagged out then it's a good throw. Tip your hat. There is also a chance that Theriot would have advanced to 2B on the throw with the same hitters coming up.

I would have tested them. It certainly isn't out of character for Quade, which added to my surprise...

Prediciton - Ramirez hits a two run winning homer....

That'd be impressive considering he's not available.

i guess the game thread is a bad place for sarcasm?

Well, we're wasting an out here letting Jones bat against a lefty.

Who would you pinch-hit with since Murton was already used? Cedeno?
