Well, the Rangers had some trouble distributing the certificates for Sammy's 600th HR. Long story short, a lot of fans who stayed for the whole game didn't get one. Well, I complained to both the promotions office and my group ticket rep. Well, two packages arrived today...and I have a stack of Sosa's 600 certificates.

Let me know if you might be interested. First come, first serve.

I would LOVE one if you still have one available.

Freddy Mitchell's sources are telling him it wasn't just Sammy who was corking his bat.

Several sources close to the Cubs have told me Sosa was not the only Cubs player who used a corked bat, at least in 2003. On the night Sosa's bat exploded for all to see, officials from Major League Baseball notified the Cubs organization during the game that they had one hour to get rid of any other corked bats of Sosa's in the team's clubhouse before they came down to inspect his arsenal of bats. More than 70 marked corked bats then were extricated quickly by Cubs personnel from the clubhouse, about a third of them belonging to other players.

if 1/3 of them belonged to other players, then sosa had approx. 50 corked bats in the lockeroom/dugout? i'm calling b.s. on this one, fred.

Haha, yeah, okay.

Aside from the obvious fact that that's a LOT a of bats, I doubt MLB would call and say "hey guys, we're gonna come make sure you're not doing anything illegal...so get rid of all the illegal stuff now please"

They actually do give a warning like that. I've seen it with my own eyes when it occured during a AAA game. After the call, guys started to scramble quite a bit.

Yeah, that would be the equivalent of MLB "looking the other way" for years while juiced up players broke home run records and "saved baseball."

Oops, maybe not a good analogy - they did do that.

I can easily see MLB doing that. It wouldn't look good to bust a half dozen guys on the same team (especially because it's likely a lot of guys on other teams would be doing the same thing).

I'm still calling BS. It's pretty damn near impossible for me to believe that Sammy had FORTY or more corked bats - I could maybe buy him having a few, but forty??

BS, nobody noticed 70 bats being taken out of the home locker room?

Beware 4-year late 'revelations.' Shame on you, Fred. You're paid to be better than that.
