Why the hell would you pinch hit with Cedeno? It doesn't make sense. He's pretty much the worst hitter on the bench, or at least close to it.

 

because for no real reason, lou pinch ran theriot for murton, leaving ronny as the only rh off the bench.

 

the cubs' bench has too many guys who serve the same purpose -- cedeno and theriot, ward and floyd.

As others have mentioned, this game was very poorly managed from a pitching staff perspective. Marquis should have started the 7th, Wuertz should have started the 8th.

they brought him in because he's supposed to be a better baserunner than the guy he's replacing. obviously, that wasn't the case.

I don't necessarily agree that Wuertz should have come in in place of Howry, but Marquis should have pitched the 7th. Other than that, that's the only second guessing I'm doing on this game.
