As others have mentioned, this game was very poorly managed from a pitching staff perspective. Marquis should have started the 7th, Wuertz should have started the 8th.

 

Then people would have been complaining that Piniella is wearing down our starting pitiching.

 

i don't give two craps if he wears down marquis.

 

Not to mention he had only thrown about 80 pitches to that point.

HOLY CRAP! I was just in Tax Law and gave out a sighed grunt when I saw Barret's passed ball.

 

Barrett is a horrible defensive catcher. He has to catch that ball in that situation. Ohman made a bad pitch, but Barrett made a lazy attempt in trying to get it.

I love the total freak outs in this thread. THIS IS THE THIRD GAME. Lou isn't going to make awesome pitching decisions just yet because THIS IS THE THIRD GAME. He has to see his pitchers a few times in real scenarios before he is able to make informed decisions. THIS IS THE THIRD GAME!

 

That being said, if we drop two games to the Brewers, season's over.
