I just worry about Murton hitting into too many double plays with his high GB%.

I thought about that too, but then I looked up the last year for Soriano. He had 90 singles and 67 walks-let's disregard HBP and getting on due to an error or fielder's choice for now. That's 157 times he was on first. Of that, he stole 2nd 32 times. So that's only 125 times that Murton would have put the ball into play behind him with Soriano on first base, and some of those come with 2 outs. When I thought of it that way with Soriano's power and speed, I realized Murton hitting into double plays is likely going to happen less at that spot in the lineup than at most of the others.

I'm just worried that with Lee's speed, Murton's just going to get on base all the time and get in his way.

But its really exciting to look at a lineup and not want to change anything (except maybe Theriot at SS)

I'm not sure if you're kidding but Murton has better than average speed.

True, but I heard Lee worked his legs so long waiting for his wrist to heal that he beat Pierre in a footrace by the end of his rehab.

Cedeno over Izturis please.

Why?

:?: :?:

I understand Izturis has replaced DB as public enemy #1 around here, but I don't necesarilly think Cedeno is a better option.

Thats all.

It was a lame base-clogging joke.

Rotoworld:

Matt Murton-OF-Cubs Mar. 28 - 8:47 pm et

Matt Murton will hit second behind Alfonso Soriano in the Cubs' Opening Day lineup Monday against Aaron Harang and the Reds.

He'll be followed by Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Jacque Jones, Michael Barrett, Mark DeRosa, Cesar Izturis and Carlos Zambrano. Murton isn't locked into the second spot in the lineup, but he should hit there quite a bit in the early going. The only disappointment here is that Zambrano won't hit ahead of Izturis.

My favorite part in bold.
