Where's Verne Lundquist!?!?!? He's by far my favorite.

"A LITTLE NYLONNN!"

That's Raftery.

Unless your two points are supposed to be separated.

Go Gus.

1:33: Finally, a good game! Penn cuts the lead to one as CBS is forced to use a stun gun on Gus Johnson.

1:35: Penn takes the lead after a 21-6 run! Lemme tell you something … if Penn pulls this off, Gus is going to sound like the kid who opened the Nintendo 64 Christmas gift in that famous YouTube clip.

1:44: A&M fights back -- they're up four again. Meanwhile, Gus just told us a story about how Marlon Pompey (A&M's forward) and his mother moved to Canada but had to leave his brother behind because the brother had a mental illness and Canada wouldn't allow him inside its borders … and then, he casually moved back to the game action with no further explanation.

1:46: The highlight of the day, and I swear this happened: Gus just threw it to commercial (A&M up by eight) with a replay of Law driving to the basket by saying, "Aggies always in good shape … when they have the Law on their side. Ha-ha-ha-ha!" That cackle could best be described as "maniacal." I love Gus Johnson.

Gus Johnson's call of Ron Lewis's 3-pointer in the OSU-Xavier game. Such a great call, one that Simmons also addresses in his last basketball blog column.

And my vote goes for Gus.

Gus Johnson made the UCLA-Gonzaga game:

(go to 1:53).

I mean, how does it get better than this (got this from some blog):

Gus Johnson: Pendergraft the inbounder on the baseline. They throw it to Morrison. He holds on.

Len Elmore: You don't want to foul Morrison. You make him get it over half court. You know you got to foul...

GJ: And a steal! Farmar! Inside! The freshman... up OHHHH! And they go in front! Raivio. Last, chance, to dance! Mbah a Moute!

LE: Unbelievable!

[in the ensuing chaos, Mbah a Moute steals the ball from Derek Raivio and forced a jump ball with the possession arrow to the Bruins. Gus is so freaking stunned, he cannot even call the game. The TV truck cannot follow the action either, it was just chaos all around.]

GJ: Oh what a game!

LE: Unbelievable.

GJ: What. A. Game!

LE: Unbelievable!

GJ: U.C.L.A.! Unbelievable!

LE: Are you kidding me!?!

GJ: After being down by 17... Heart, Break, City!

LE: Holy Mackerel

GJ: 2.6 to go! UCLA has CLIMBED the MOUNTAIN!

Here is the restart at 2.6, Gus blows his vocal cords on the final play:

GJ: Hollins comes into the game. He’ll guard the ball. Pendergraft the inbounder.

LE: On any long pass, trying to get it to halfcourt, you still want to get after the ball like you’re a cornerback in the …

Johnson: In the frontcourt [voice rising] … Batista with the C-A-A-TCH! THAT’S IT! WHAT A COMEBACK! UCLA DEFEATS GONZAGA, 73-71, AFTER BEING DOWN BY 17!

Considering the money on the line for me (I had UCLA making the title game, and that pick alone won me almost every pool I was in), I was probably losing it almost as much as Gus.
