So you don't agree that Indy lost meaningful games to ho-hum competition down the stretch, or that the Bears rank much higher in the points scored vs given up department and have a better record?

The Bears also played the easiest schedule in the NFL, whereas the Colts had a middle of the pack strength of schedule... and the Bears' strength of victory was in the bottom third of the NFL, whereas the Colts' strength of victory was 4th in the NFL.

Yup. The Bears have no right to be in the Super Bowl. Where's the AP Poll when you need it?

Like I said, that is the evidence one would expect to see in defense of the claim the Bears are better. I made it quite clearly that I don't think that evidence proves the Bears are better.

The judge doesn't allow Tank Johnson to travel to Miami, he's is going to get some much garbage from Bear fans. As bad as it sounds, I could see some meathead Bears fan doing something really stupid.

The only reason I can see for not letting Tank go is because the judge wants to be famous. By saying he can't go, every one in the world would soon know the judge's name, because that'd be a huge story for the media to talk about.

And yes, I could see some Bears fans really doing something stupid. Just look at what poor Bartman has to deal with, and he didn't even really do anything. Now add another half of a city to the mix, and you're bound to get some crazies out there.

Thats not even close to being true. Thats all Kansas and Baltimore tried to do.

That's the official storyline, but the fact is KC had only 17 runs while Baltimore had only 20, well below their season averages. Both teams threw considerably more frequently than they ran.

At the start of the game thats all they tried to do, but when they were averaging less than a yard per carry (negative yards for a good amount of the first half) they tried something else. Its not that they didnt try to run, its that running didnt work, Dungy had great game plans and they executed amazingly. Baltimore was the same thing only not quite as dominant. There's also the time of possession to look at, the Colts completely owned the Chiefs and they didnt run many plays total.

I agree with that, I should have said, "I dont agree with THOSE examples". But again, you do have to look at the competition. The Colts have beaten the best teams in the league. The best team the Bears have beaten is the Saints. The teams the Colts have beaten that are better than the Saints are New England (twice, home and away), Baltimore, and Denver (at the time they played). The Colts have lost to some bad teams but they seem to have righted the ship.

Well, he IS a Packers fan

But seriously, he's under house arrest. If he isn't granted permission to go to Miami with the team, people shouldn't be in an uproar about it.

There was an example from a few years ago, though I can't remember the players name. Almost exact situation, and that player was granted permission.

And since Tank Johnson wasn't the target of this investigation (it was Posey), and he more than likely will be cleared of the charges since he's technically a resident of Arizona where the guns are legal, he should be allowed to go.

Theyre talking about Lovie's contract situation on Boers and Bernstein right now. I would hope it would never happen, but they brought up the hypothetical situation where if the Bears arent gonna pay him, perhaps trading him for some first round draft picks. I doubt it happens and bet the Bears pay Lovie.

Hahahaha. Gotta love those B&B guys. Looks like they're stretching out into left field to try and find a controversy.

Lovie's so back for a multi year deal it isn't even funny.

Really? I think if Tank is held back in Chicago it blows the doors off every news outlet in the city.

Who's your backup DT? Idonije? You could do a whole hell of a lot worse than that. Of course the media will make a big deal out of it, but I don't think it would really hinder the outcome of the game.

I just think there will be massive outrage if it happens. I think Tank gets little credit for what he does. We're already down one DT----we like to rotate so being 2 down will make a big difference in how fresh we can keep our guys.

Losing Tank would be a huge loss. With Harris out, Tank is the only DT we have who has a shot to put pressure on the QB. Tank was missed in the 2 games he was out for at the end of the season.

If he's under house arrest, doesnt he still have the right to make a living?

All this talk of the first African American coach in the Super Bowl is going to get old, real quick. Who cares what color the coach is? How about talking about the teams!

Yep, that's why he's been allowed to practice and play in Illinois so far.

To be honest, if I was Tank I would seriously weigh the punishment of skipping out with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity if it comes down to that.

Seriously, what would the punishment be? You would be arrested upon return, whereby court hearings would ensue and you would probably spend a couple months in jail after all is said and done.

Worth playing in the Super Bowl? I think so.

Ultimately I think that's why he won't be kept back in Chicago by the courts. Illinois wouldn't have the ability to get him back in time for the Super Bowl, and the punishment wouldn't likely outweigh the benefit anyway. They'll just let him go.

In this scenario though, couldn't people in charge of the Bears be charged as knowing accomplices? Granted, it's not a huge crime to be part of, but I think in that case it's a decision that affects more than just Tank.

I know I've mentioned it before, but the Bears will be the home team. The jersey selection is up to them. I don't see why they wouldn't pick navy, but I guess white is always a possibility.

Outside of the limited allotment each team gets for season ticket holders, I'd expect it to be a pretty pro-Bears crowd down in Miami. You're going to have a lot more Bears fans willing to fork over $4,000-$10,000 each to spend a weekend down there and go to the game than Colts fans just because of the differences in the fan bases.

Not just the Bears, I'm the NFL would be held responsible too. No way he plays without the court's permission. In fact, if he showed up without permission, I'm sure someone, either Bears or NFL would turn him over to the police. And if I'm not mistaken, once you leave the state, doesn't it become a federal matter? (Meaning the FBI can show up and arrest you on the spot)

Go with the navy on white. I like the traditional whites, but the navy's are better. Stay away from the hideous orange if you have a chance. They don't need to be seen from space.

Yeah, I don't think it's even an option. He needs to see if he can get some sort of special treatment for the Super Bowl. If not, we'll have to go with the guys we have. I think we'll be okay on the front line.
