If the Seahawks are going to get pressure on Rex, they are going to have to do it with their line. I seriously doubt they are going to do much blitzing with the scrubs they currently are forced to play with in the secondary.

*stomach turns*

OK I am a tad bit on the nervous side. I feel a bit like Rex, multiple personalities.

I think a playoff game would mean a lot to the confidence of this team and its fans.

I'd like to share with you guys an image from out last match up. I'd like to say I made it, but it shows...a less than stellar play by our Charles Tillman. Don't get me wrong, he's had a great season, but at the time it was priceless:

EDIT: Yea, there is another bye week before the Super Bowl. Its fairly new I think.[/img]

Definitely remember that play. Darrell Jackson just flat out dropped a free TD pass. The game was still sorta in doubt at the time too.

I'd love to see this team in the Super Bowl, and I probably wouldn't be nervous at all becau I'd just be happy to be there.

There is a certain amount of "the first one" anxiety with this team. They haven't won a playoff game in forever. But everybody should be at least a little nervous before a playoff game, divisional round or not. Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL playoffs. You don't have a 7 game series to make up for a bad loss. It's one and done, and anybody can win. Underdogs have won a ton of games this year.

As for the pre Super Bowl bye week, I think it's been around for a long time. It's just recently that they reinstated it on a permanent basis. There was a bye week for a lot of super bowls prior to 2001, including the Bears/Pats Super Bowl XX.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone here have a problem with Lovie having attended the KC/IND game? I don't personally, but I've seen people complaining both on TV and message boards.

No problem. It's not like they'd have an advantage if they watched the NFC games live on TV, they don't strategize based off the video from the TV feeds.

Do you mean over the season? Every favored team in the playoffs have won their games so far.

Yes, in the season, including over teams in these playoffs. The 4 games that went "as expected" are not much of a meaningful trend. Every playoff season includes upsets.

I think this is obvious to most knowledgable people, including the mediots. I think the problem, as seen by those who complain about it (not me), is that Lovie should have been preparing by watching game tape of his potential opponents and maybe preparing Rex, although that is what Wade Wilson is for.

Hmmmm, guess I havent paid that much attention to the weeks prior to the Super Bowl. Thanks for the info!!!!

I would even go so far as to say the Seahawks win over the Cowboys was an upset, as the line was 2.5 and home field counts for 3. That and the Seahawks were just not statistically a good team.

Which doesn't mean a whole lot compared to the points on the scoreboard and the fact they're still playing this week.

No rational person can expect these guys to be watching tape and preparing Rex 24/7. They have off days. Nobody has a problem with them taking off days. Nobody would be complaining if he sat at home and watched the game with his wife. This is just complaining for the sake of complaining without any reasonable basis for the complaint.

It's irrational panic by a fanbase terrified of losing in the first round. If the Bears lose Sunday, it's not going to be because Lovie went to Indianapolis

There usually is...but I think last year they might've gotten rid of it. Too lazy to check if there is or isn't one this year. 8-)

Agreed 100%. Those were my exact thoughts when I saw or read the views of these people.

Call me crazy, but I think I remember hearing that this wasn't really Tillman's fault. He was supposed to cover on an underneath route and Jackson became the free safety's responsibility deep. Basic Cover 2, right? I could easily be wrong, though...

(this is directed to those people_)

Are you freaking serious? Is Lovie Smith supposed to toil for 2 weeks straight to assemble tape for Rex Grossman? Do you even know what Head Coaches do?

He gave the team the weekend off. Christ almighty.

I guess, but things usually work themselves off and the one of the top 2 seeds usually gets in. (2005 being the exception)

I remember in 2004 all these crazy upsets happened in the first couple rounds, and then the number 1 seed in the NFC and te number 2 seed in the AFC went to the championship.

The bye teams always end up there.

You could wish the same suffering on mhuber (and later on, OMC or Truffle), instead.
