Anyone else seeing a lack of urgency with this team?

They got their butts kicked by Green Bay, Grossman admitted he basically didn't care. Looked very much like the entire team didn't.

One would think they'd be dialing it up this week, despite the extra time before the next game. You know, getting back to basics, keeping their fitness up----maybe even working on a couple new wrinkles.

Instead, I'm hearing practices have been very light. Anyone else heard the same? I know Tank Johnson didn't show Friday. I know it was an excused absence and he's got alot to deal with in his life, but still----wild horses couldn't drag me away at this moment in time.

Chico Rivera hasn't even been in town, instead gallavanting around the country doing interviews (hmmm....heard this story before??) while his struggling defense sits at Halas Hall twiddling their thumbs. And now Ron Turner is getting in on the act, doing interviews as his QB tries to find the energy to care.

Christ, I guess they're just satisfied with being divisional champs. After all, why wouldn't they be? All you have to do in this league is win the division and the big time salary offers start rolling in. Who cares about the Super Bowl? Nobody in Chicago, apparently.

-No. It's a bye week. Practices should be light. They should be tequnique and fundamentals only.

-Rex didn't admit he didn't care. He said that because the game was meaningless, he didn't prepare like he should have. Big Difference.

-Coordinators interviewing isn't going to hurt them during a bye week.

Actually, everything I've heard is that the team is practicing hard. Went back to a pre-season type practice. In pads, which is unusual this late in the season. #1 offense vs. #1 defense for the first time since the bye week. Every player quote I have seen has talked about being embarrassed last year vs. Carolina and about not letting it happen again.

BTW, if Rivera leaves, I'm really intrigued by the possibility of Mike Singletary taking over as the DC. He's been mentioned already as a possible candidate for the Steelers head coaching position, but there's no way that happens. I would love Singletary as part of this staff, but I don't know if he would leave SF just to be an assistant again. Lovie looks like a long-term solution, so it's not like he would be waiting it out to become the Bears head coach.

FWIW, I read in the Sun Times I think that Lovie called Thursday's practice the best and most intense he has seen in sometime. The #1 offense was going against the #1 defense, which is rather unusual for this time of year.

Yeah I read that in the Tribune too. Seems like they're preparing harder than they have in over a month. Hopefully it pays off.

Yup. Lovie has been quite happy with how the practices have been going and said he felt the need to get back into pads and go at it like it was training camp.

And it's not too little too late.

I'm just gonna go all out and predict.. because this is what happened to me in Madden's franchise.

First round: obvious bye

second round: defeat the Cowboys

NFC champions: Bears

AFC Champions: Chargers

Super-bowl: Bears

Superbowl MVP: Nathan Vasher

Yes, link please? Not doubting it----I hope it's true. But this isn't what I've heard.

It's official. Bears at noon on Sunday.

I like.

meh, I would have preferred the 3PM game.

Same. I'd have also preferred the Saturday night game... Prefer the primetime slots.

The less waiting the better.

Saturday was pretty much already ruled out according to several reports in the media.

I'll be there. Won't be home in time for the 24 kickoff either. Oh well, it's worth it.

Nice!

I can't say that I'm jealous that you'll be sitting out there in the cold... Can't say that I'm not jealous either, though. :D

24? Got TiVo???

So it's down to Seahawks or the Giants, both teams we took care of pretty easily in the regular season (that worked out well for us last year with Carolina tough :(). Hawks didn't have Alexander either. Alexander or Barber worry me... i really miss Tommie :x

Go Bears! and please please please get Ced enough carries.

Neither team impresses me. We could easily rattle Hasselbeck or Eli and force some turnovers. I like our potential matchups.

But yes, IMO Ced needs to get at least 50% of the carries.

Oh come ON. I'm going to probably miss the end of the stupid game.

Hopefully, the Bears will be running away with it so you won't miss anything important. Got to look on the bright side here.

That's basically my only hope, is that the game will be well in hand by about the 9 minute mark in the 4th.

Statistically speaking, Rex plays his best (per QB rating) at 12:00 noon Sunday games at Soldier Field.

Grossman QB Rating based on time of game and home/away

Home, 12:00 PM CT start (6 games): 83.5

Home, PrimeTime game (2 games): 51.0

Away, 12:00 PM CT start (3 games): 74.3

Away, 3:00 PM CT start (2 games): 66.9

Away, PrimeTime game (3 games): 66.4

Hopefully he keeps that up for this coming week. I don't have that much confidence in him though. :|
