So, with LSU blowing out ND and Michigan losing, does LSU have a chance for the #2 ranking?

If Ohio state beats Florida I would say Lsu would get the #2 ranking. If Florida pulls out the upset I would think Osu would be ranked #2 but who knows.

I would agree with that. I guess I'm assuming OSU will beat Florida.

USC will likely be preseason #1

Well, they're talking about the final poll for this season.

I still don't understand why a #4 team was even playing a #11 team in a BCS game. It's bad enough that there is no playoff but let's at least group the teams together better than this.

The #11 team really shouldn't have been there. They need to change the rule that prohibits a conference from only getting in two teams and we could have had a better match-up.

Sconsin would have given LSU a better game. At least they can play defense. I doubt they would have won, but they wouldn't have gotten the complete beatdown that ND got. Stupid BCS.

If they do that then the rich just get richer. You'd see just SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 teams fill all the slots.

On ESPN Robert Smith brought up a great point. ND hasn't won a bowl game in over a decade.

It's because they are always playing someone they shouldn't. They are habitually overrated and only get into the bigger bowl games b/c they bring in a bigger audience.

The bowls are about how much money can be generated, not about getting the best teams matched up.

The entire BCS and all the bowls are a sham.

---------------

ND hasn't beaten a top ten team since Lou Holtz coached them. Forget joining The Big Ten, maybe they'd have a better shot in the MAC.

Who I'll really miss is Fisher if he ends up leaving as has been reported.

Yep, he'll probably be with Saban. Tech was trying to hire him, but couldn't afford him.

Actually, from all reports, it appears he's headed to Florida State. It seems he's still mighty PO'ed that Paul Bryant, Jr. blocked his confirmation to take over as head coach of UAB, and doesn't want to benefit the UA program.

It's because the major conferences all send their conference champion to a BCS game. Wake Forest was ranked 14 in the final BCS standings. Look at last year. #3 Penn State played #22 Florida State in the Orange Bowl last year.

My point is that 1 should play 2 and then the next 2 highest play each other and so on.

They should increase it to 3 teams from a conference. No more than that though.

So this year they would have added Wisconsin and taken ND away correct? Who else was added other than ND and Michigan as Boise earned it.

Maybe - or maybe there'd be a deserving school from the Big East or one of the other conferences in there. Rutgers screwed themselves by losing to Cincy, and WVU screwed themselves by losing to USF. They had nobody to blame but themselves for not getting in the BCS this year.

Do you really think they would have taken them over ND, Michigan or Wisconsin if they (BE team) only had one loss? I don't.

Opps, I forgot LSU which somehow managed to lose 2 games too but I suppose that's ok.

Show me where a two-loss Big East school played four games like @Auburn, @Tennessee, @Arkansas and @Florida, and I'll agree that they belong in the BCS. Really, if your defending of the Big East has blinded you to the fact that LSU is indeed one of the five best teams in the nation, and is in the very least better than Rutgers and West Virginia, then we're really not going to get anywhere in this debate.

Who did Wisconsin beat that made them a better team than Louisville? Who did Notre Dame beat to make them a better team than West Virginia?

They both beat Penn State, who will probably be a top 25 team in the final polls.

I think the rule should be 2 max per conference, except when a conference has a team in the NC game and a 3rd can then play.

I'm editing my post from above about making it 3 teams from any conference can go to the BCS. They should make a provision that if the third place team in a BCS conference is in the, say, top 8 of the final BCS standings then they are eligible, but not guaranteed, to be selected to play in a BCS bowl. That way, you know if a conference gets three teams in the BCS, they likely deserve it.

I also wouldn't mind if they had a minimum wins requirement for a BCS, regardless of conference title. If some team (cough*FSU2005*cough) is only 8-4 or whatever they shouldn't get to go to the Orange Bowl.

I'm not talking about the final polls. If you're going to look at rankings, you must do so when the teams were selected for BCS bowls. That means before Penn State's victory over Tennessee. Before the Tennessee game, Penn State hadn't beaten anybody.

While it's a good idea, I don't see the conferences ever agreeing to that though.

Well, Louisville made the BCS because they won the conference, so nobody's arguing that they should've been in there. And most of us who aren't ND fans already agree that they didn't belong.
