Can't vote, though.

Comedy Central should cancel Reno 911 instead.

Agreed

I could never get into that show, but when it first started, one of the promo's showed one of the guys holding a shot gun and he said "this here's a shot gun so I don't really even have to aim." For some reason, that always got me.

The one negative TDS has going against them is that their format is locked. Like last night's Colbert Report, Colbert and the writing staff can pretty much go in whatever direction they want.

The Henry Kissinger parts were just icing on the cake last night. What a great last show of the year.

Check out those guns!!

I vote for Colbert. I enjoy his show a little more, and, most importantly, he's from Charleston, so I gotta vote for the hometown boy.

I've always been a big fan of Stewart since his ownage of CNN Crossfire.

Hysterical - I never heard about that before. What's the over/under on the odds that the guy they kept showing in the crowd wearing a Cubs hat is a poster here?

For the debate at hand, it's a very easy TDS vote for me. It just seems to me a better thought-out show in which the humor is much better related to the content, whereas the Colbert Report (which receives points for title pronunciation and the Final Word segment) seems to rely too heavily on Colbert's theatrics to make the show funny and not enough on making fun of the outside world.

He made a big difference.

In January 2005, CNN announced that it was cancelling Crossfire. When asked about the cancellations, CNN/U.S.'s incoming President, Jonathan Klein, said about Stewart's appearance on the show, "I think he made a good point about the noise level of these types of shows, which does nothing to illuminate the issues of the day."[18] Soon after Stewart quipped on The Daily Show that "I fought the law, and the law lost!"

Good job, Jon!

The Daily Show. Colbert Report is great, but is driven by Stephen Colberts alter ego. The Daily Show can hit you in more ways.

The Daily Show has been a springboard for some:

- Colbert

- Steve Carrell

- Ed Helms

- Mo Rocca

- Craig Kilborn

- Nate Corddry

Hopefully we'll see Rob Corddry in something soon.

Wow. That was great. Thank you for posting that and Jon Stewart is the man. I've always been a fan of his and this makes me that much more of a fan.

For some reason, even as much as I love Jon, that always rubbed me the wrong way. I'm certainly not a fan of Begala or Tucker, and never watched Crossfire, but I didn't think it was very cool of him to be invited onto a show and then proceed to, with all seriousness, bash the show and call one of the hosts a jerk.

In Stewart's defense, he didn't up the smugness until Tucker started mocking his Kerry interview.

Yeah, it seemed like Stewart wouldn't have gone off like he did, or as aggressively as he did, had Tucker not repeatedly gone back to the questions Stewart asked in the Kerry interview.
