So my generous Grandma has offered to get me one of those two for Xmas (I almost feel like a kid again) and I figured why not. Problem is they both seem to have different strengths and weaknesses and I being the indecisive person that I am can't possibly decide. So I figure I'll let NSBB make the call. Please try and include reasons as to why if you vote.

THANKS

It depends what kind of games your into though...The games you just said, I an tell your more into action and stealth games..Ive always been into Metal Gear Solid,Meal of Honor,Resident Evil etc. which only Playstation and XBox can provide...Nintendo isnt really known for those types...I got interested in the Wii because ,for example, in baseball games, you can use the controller like a real bat and and swing, same thing for bowling and thier other sport games...Also the only system you can play Zelda.... Its up to you man, if your into darker and more adventure games go with the Xbox,Wii if your more into sports, and tons of other games

I should have probably added what games I like. I'm very open ended, enjoying stuff like Final Fantasy but also stuff like Rainbow Six or GOW. I've yet to really get into sports games oddly enough.

What does that even mean?

Bill Gates entered into a industry where he does not belong...Hes a computer guy..He has no buisness entering a industry that is run by the Japanese..There should only be Nintendo and Sony..The first XBox,complete failure,Looked like a VCR,Ugly controller, pretty poor game selection except for Halo and a few others...Its pretty much like cars to sum it up...Toyota,Honda,Mitsubishi,Are the top cars on the market, all Japanese, because they last forever, break down half as much as an american car..Then you got Gates.who is like, General Motors, producing crap that cant even compare..Bottom line, Japanese are better than us with cars and electronics..We can try, but well never overtake them, the guy is should stick to making PC's and stuff he knows, not something the japanese are masters of

360 by far. The games are awesome and live is incredible. Everything Primetime is saying is basically [expletive].

Reasons?

the games you like definitely side with the 360

That's my opinion as well. I prefer the Wii, but from your description of the games you would want the 360. The only other 2 big questions: which controller do you like better-the standard one of the 360 or the new one of the Wii? Last thing-which online play do you think you'll like better-Microsoft's which you have to pay for, or the Wii's which is free online play for the new games plus you can pay for any of Nintendo's extensive library of games, including NES, SNES, 64, Sega, and one other type of games? The answers to those two questions will probably be the biggest differences along with the game differences.

Reasons?

Far better for non-gaming purposes, better visually, already established compared to the wii, and I personally don't think the wii is going to age well as a console.

What does the 360 have that the Wii won't have for non-gaming purposes (besides DVD playback, which there are rumors that the Wii will have an update that will allow that next year)?

If you have an up to date gaming PC get a Wii. If your PC is lacking and you enjoy playing shooters get a 360. IMHO most of the good XBOX/XBOX360 games are shooters which have much better gameplay on a PC. I don't have anything against Microsoft, but it seems that the Japanese consoles have a greater variety of games. I'm just so bored with shooters/FPS.

The 360 is much better suited to be a media hub(hard drive, online store), mostly due to it being Microsoft and its Windows media integration.

Just for the record, PrimeTime is basically saying that if one company or area of the world has control of the market in something and you have the resources and desire to try to enter that market, you shouldn't do it because you "don't belong".

Ok here are some questions u need to ask yourself:

1) Since XBOX is like 150 more and your grandma is willing to pay then maybe go with that. But do you have an HDTV? Cuz Xbox's graphics are better but with an HDTV they are way better. If u dont, then id get the Wii.

2) I got a Wii and I love it. The controls are awesome. Madden is really hard to get used to though, but the Wii Sports game is so fun and Zelda is one of the top 2 best games ever. id probably get the Wii just for Zelda. So do you like zelda?

3) Do you want like a dvd player and stuff in it and do u play online? if u like that stuff go with XBOX

4) Do u like old nintendo games like goldeneye and mario cuz u can download ANY game ever made for Nintendo.

My final opinion, get a Wii cuz it has Zelda, and the controls are so awesome and fun. and a lot of games will be comin out. But since price doesnt matter then xbox makes it close.

Company and market diversification be damned!

I pretty much gave up console gaming & switched to PC-only after the PS2 got stale, but . . . I'd take the 360 over the Wii.

The Wii is making a big splash right now, mainly because of the new interface style, but it's a bit too gimmicky to base an entire console purchase upon. The motion-detection is cool for sports, but for FPS or adventure/RPG gaming its uses are limited. Swinging swords in Zelda is well and good, but do you really want to do that repeatedly across an entire 100-hr Final Fantasy-type grind?

Will game developers innovate enough to keep the new Wii interface relevant to the gameplay? Like the DS's second screen, it's a nice thing to have, but many games use it as an enhancement to the game rather than as the primary interaction system. I just can't see the "nunchuck" being universally integrated well across all the game genres, and it seems likely that developers will try to force the feature into games, making the results less than ideal. The potential for it to become downright silly is big, IMO.

As an aside, the legacy games ability is cool, but emulators are already out there doing the job.

If you're more of a "hardcore" gamer, someone who likes cutting edge graphics, action/FPS games, more mature titles and online gaming, the 360 has the advantage. If you've got an HDTV, it's the no-brainer choice. The 360 also has a year of experience under it's belt, making it a safer buy in terms of build quality and bug-fixes. And if you're putting your money on HD-DVD (unwise move IMO, but hey), then you've got that upgrade option available.

That being said, I'd personally ask G'ma to chip in on a PS3 gift card for when the next wave ships. While the initial launch has been pooh-pooh'ed and the game selection was criticized, once Sony works out the kinks and developers learn the ropes of programming the beast, the PS3 will rule the roost.

Not to mention Halo 3.

ETA: If it was my choice, I would get the 360.
