Big win for Arizona.

So the BCS Top 6 could be this depending on how far Louisville falls...

1. OSU

2. Michigan

3. Florida

4. Texas

5. USC

6. Notre Dame

So if Florida gets beat by Arkansas, Texas falls in one of their 3 games left, and ND beats USC the Irish could possibly play for the National Championship.

I think it's looking more and more like OSU and Michigan will play twice this season.

If you add in Arkansas losing to either LSU or Tennessee, then yes. But if your scenario happens and Arkansas wins out there is no way they won't jump ND.

ETA: Also, is that what you think the Top 6 will be (i.e. how the polls will come out) or how you think it should be?

It's what I think it will be.

The only thing that might be different is Arkansas at 6 over Notre Dame and I think that only happens if they blow out Tennessee today. If they win a close game I think they'll be 7.

I think it'll be Texas... they have to win at Kansas State tonight (shouldn't be tough) and then beat aTm at home, which should also be doable. Then it's the Big XII title game against Nebraska - they win that and they're looking good. They'd probably move up over O$U or Michigan, depending on which one loses.

Jamal Anderson plays for Arkansas? I thought that guy retired from the Falcons because of injury problems.

DIRTY BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamal Anderson actually did the color commentary on a ASU-UCLA game in Pasadena last year. It was amusing.

Arkansas is significantly behind Notre Dame in terms of BCS points, and the Irish won a blowout today (even though it was Air Force). With a few more quality wins Arkansas could jump the Irish, but I don't see it this week.

ND needs:

- Texas to lose at some point

- Arkansas to lose a game before the SEC title game, then beat Florida in that game

- To beat USC

And then they could play for it all (and most likely get killed by OSU or Michigan).

Question: Does the fact that Florida probably should've lost to SC (at home) result in a poll drop, or does that only happen when ND's opponents play them tough?

ND breezes to a 39-17 win over Air Force. Quinn throws for 202 and 4 TD (his own defense kept him from having the ball enough to throw for more yards). Gioia gets 2 PATs blocked and misses a 3rd.

For me, it depends on which team wins the OSU/UM game. I don't think Texas deserves another shot because they got hammered at home. If it would have been a close game on the road (a la Florida to Auburn) that would be one thing. The same goes for Notre Dame if Michigan goes undefeated. ND shouldn't get another shot.

Washington lost to TREE by 17 points? WTF?!?!?

Looks like Ty's team decided that 4-1 was enough of an accomplishment, and decided to lose their next 7. Way to go Huskies.

Nice going Ty.

Come on now, they started losing once their best player - Isaiah Stanback - was lost for the season.

ETA: First play after the Beavers get the interception? They fumble!! UCLA ball.

Just got back from freezing my ass off at the SIU game. SIU beat Northern Iowa 47-23 and with a win over lowly Southern Utah next week, the Salukis should be in the I-AA playoffs. Very impressive win over the 11th ranked team in I-AA. SIU picked a great time to play their best game of the season.

A win over Tennessee will be quality and Arkansas would likely jump over West Virginia with any sort of a victory. In the USA Today and Harris poll, Notre Dame is already ahead of Cal while Arkansas is behind Cal so they are likely to be, at the least, right behind ND in both polls. Needless to say, an Arkansas victory today gets them a lot closer to ND.

True, that's fair I suppose. I'm rooting for Ty.

Drop how much though? AP Top 15:

1. O$U

2. scUM

3. Louisville

4. Texas

5. Auburn

6. Florida

7. USC

8. Cal

9. ND

10. WVU

11. Arkansas

12. LSU

13. Tennessee

14. Boise St

15. Rutgers

so Louisville, Auburn, Cal all drop. Arkansas needs to jump up if they win this. I dunno... does USC deserve to jump Florida if they beat Oregon? I don't think so - they've had their share of close games against unranked opponents. ND? They should've lost to Moo. WVU? They haven't shown they can beat a good team, their defense is questionable, as is their ability to pass. Arkansas should've lost at home to Alabama, at least if Alabama had a kicker. I dunno if Florida should move down just because their close win came today and not last month.

While I agree with you Truffle that Florida should not necessarily drop, they have played 3 of these type of games in a row. They are not necessarily worse than the teams behind him, but it should at least be re-evaluated at this point. If a re-evaluation of their entire season compares to others shows that Florida is still better in the voters mind, then fine. It's pretty close-splitting hairs among all the teams. However, the mindset in September and October is that if you look bad, you drop-while in November, you almost have to lose to drop. Florida has had just about as many close games as everybody else at this point.

They get leeway because they've beaten someone good.

Technically, if Tennessee loses tonight, the two teams best wins will be about the same.
