I'd look into getting Teahen from the Royals before I'd go after DeRosa or Nomar. The Royals have Alex Gordon waiting in the wings, so they could trade Teahen.

Teahen, unlike Nomar and Durham, is at least going into his prime. So, I like that move better. But do you think Hendry would go in that direction? I don't.

If Hendry doesn't sign Ramirez he has to steal someone like A-Rod or Tejada (and I don't see either of those happening).

If he can't afford ARAM he can't afford Soriano. So, at best, it's another round of over-the-hill, fragile, or washed up FAs.

According to CBS Sportsline.com:

The Kansas City Star reported Monday the Royals "appear likely to switch Teahen to the outfield in spring training to accommodate the arrival of third baseman Alex Gordon."

He's still cheap, so there's no reason for them to get rid of him.

How about Carlos Marmol or Angel Guzman? Do people think that is too much to give up for Teahan?

That's my take, too.

If Aramis walks, I just see this as another cycle on the treadmill where a bunch of lip service is paid to competing while washed-up vets are shuffled in and out.

How long until the window closes???

*NERVOUS*

Midnight EST, I'm guessing.

The window doesn't exactly close tonight. It just gets harder, more expensive, and if he's re-signed after tonight it counts against the FA quota.

So the Cubs would lose their pick to the Cubs?

Heh, no. They would get to sign one fewer Type A free agent because Aramis would count as one.

This is worse than sitting waiting for Dempster to blow another game......

So it's waiting for Hawkins to blow another save?

Even worse, it's like waiting for Alfonseca to blow another save.

They wouldn't lose a compensation pick to themselves (obviously), but after tonight the signing counts against their limit (4 Type A/Bs) this year.

It was joke. If you were grape you would have laughed but your humor is now dry.

I'm going to repost this, as I'd like to hear what people think. It was the last post on the last page.

Sigh, two hours and change until the inevitable.

I for one don't plan to be feeling any pain when it happens. Smoke 'em if you got 'em guys.

Man a bad joke, I've gotta add a wink next time.

This would make it Cubs 101 to have them sign Rameriz after the deadline. 102 is to let him go.

Just bought a twelve-pack of blue moon. I don't plan on feeling pain either.

True.

But it is a pretty good beer on its own, sans fruit. I think it's a Belgian wheat, and it has a really smooth, sweet aftertaste.

no beer at all if I had my preference. That was just the bartender in my discussing how it is served.
