I moved to Chicago in the late summer of 2003, and was overjoyed to move a block from my favorite baseball team and to immerse myself in being a fan of the Cubs.

Ever since that day, the baseball Gods have been peeing on my head.

That's just the rain. We get a lot of it in the Midwest.

I think the Cardinals found themselves a closer.

Not if they're smart they didn't. He should be a starter.

Yeah, he should be a starter. I said he would win 15 games next year if he was a starter.

Oh god, I'm agreeing with you over something most Cardinals fans think I'm wrong about. Something's wrong.

He is more valuable as a starter.

But at least you're agreeing with me too.

Good.

Change up plz.

Same thing with me except late Summer 2004. At least you had playoff baseball to enjoy you jerk

Well, with Verlander tomorrow, and then Rogers-Carp in Detroit, it could be 3-3 with Bonderman in Detroit.

Maybe?

Wouldn't Robertson start Game 7? He didn't pitch horrible in Game 3 and frankly, nobody was going to beat Carpenter that game anyway. Your choices are Robertson on his normal 4 days rest or Bonderman on 2. Personally I'd take Robertson.

But the Tigers still have to win 2 games to make this discussion matter so we'll see.

I don't like the Cardinals.

Get used to them flaunting around their WS champion shirts all year. If you get sick of them, turn your attention to White Sox fans still wearing their WS champions shirts from last year.

I say this with no animosity at all, but if the Cubs ever win you people will break all World Series merchandise records and would never ever stop wearing it.

As obnoxious as you may think Cardinals fans are, I remember 2003.

You people are twice as hungry and millions more strong.

As cliche as it is, defense (lack of) as well as good pitching by STL and a poor approach by Det. has been why STL is up 3-1.

The defense mistakes/bad breaks by Detroit were numerous. Guillen not catching the hit and run, which he tags Miles without the ball. Monroe overrunning the ball allowing Rolen to go to 2B, Granderson slipping on Eckstein's fly ball, Rodney's error, and Monroe's poor jump on Eckstein again.

Wow.

Only the Cardinals.

The Cardinals have had more than their share of postseason misfortune. . . injuries, bad calls, etc.

The ball is definitely bouncing their way this postseason but that is a rare change for the norm. .

Not looking for sympathy - just saying.

It's like the baseball gods are truly mocking the Cubs...5 outs away? Dashed. A great 2004? Crushed by a final week+ of truly awful baseball and the Red Sox finally snap their streak. 2005, the White Sox snap theirs. Now 2006 and the Cardinals will win it? How much more motivation does this organization need to get out there and spend/trade what it takes to freakin' WIN?!??

Hey what was that joke circulating earlier in the year about both the Cardinals and the Cubs have never won the World Series in their current stadium? Whoops

I'm not going to watch tonight.

Me neither. The weather is appropriately miserable and cold, so I'm gonna play it up with some beautifully depressing music, expensive alcohol and a nice seeee-gar while I grill myself a steak.

Wouldn't that have been something - Cubs, Sox, Sox all end droughts in 3 consecutive years. Now maybe the Cards on top of it.

As a Cards fan with a lot of good friends who live and die Cubs, that loss pained me quite a bit. As long as the Cards aren't involved, I root Cubs. No reason not too - too many good baseball fans on the north side.

Unfortunately, spending money is no guarantee. The Cards penny pinched this year, somewhat anyway, and they are 1 win away. .

Here's to hoping the Cubs get off the schneid soon - just not at the hands of the Cards. . . 8)

I'll watch the very beginning but I have to work at 6 (my time) so I won't be able to watch a majority of the game. I will be giving my parents a call from work to give me updates though.

I was speaking more to their ability to have players who suck somehow "come through" for them

Hahah you're right. I wasn't looking at the schedule. There's no way I send any pitcher on 2 days rest. I'd put Robertson in.
