Scrapstein wins the MVP and I feel myself hitting rock bottom

That's the worst part. I don't really dislike St Louis all that much (I loathe Houston), but the fact that Scrappy McHustler won the MVP makes me sick, because not only wil we be subjected the the standard "heart wins over talent" boilerplate sportswriting/radio for the next 12 months, but there's a better than 75% chance that Hendry decides he needs to field a team that features below average corner OF's, a terrible C, a godawful middle IF, and a mediocre starting rotation anchored by a solid #1 in order to win.

isn't that what we have? but a little better with barrett?

I could make a legit argument that with a healthy Derrek Lee, we'd have a better team.

I can't wait to see what FJM says about it

That site might explode.

I'm pretty sure this cements Ramirez being gone. We will all love the scrappy David Bell or Rich Aurillia at third next season.

:pukel:

Very few things could make me quit being a Cubs fan, but if that happens, I might take a break until Hendry is fired.

I really wouldn't mind. The last thing I need now is for the Cubs to go and make lots of good free agent moves to get my hopes up again. Just have another useless offseason like last year so that I have no hope in 2007.

Sean Casey had a pretty good World Series.

Sean Casey, Carlos Guillen, and Kenny Rogers are the only Tigers who decided to show up for the World Series.

this might be one of the worst year in baseball I've ever seen.

I second this.

I'd be really really pissed if had watched baseball soemtime within the last month. or four.

Since this will be locked soon...I wish the Game Threads forums well...see you in 2007 (if you make it back from this....I might not)

I'm affraid there are going to be some reports of some scattered poor ol' cubs fans that had heart attacks over the weekend. And some suicides as well.

I'd like to note that in the 6th inning, directly after Duncan Adam Dunn'd a ball in RF with 2 out, I said, "If the Cards are really as butt ass freaking lucky as they've been all decade, Pudge will K on three straight pitches."

Pudge K'd on three straight pitches.

I'd also like to note that God will have to outdo Himself to make this any worse for Cubs fans in 2007. Blowing a 3-0 lead with HFA against STL in an NLCS might do it, but I'd think it'd have to be even more ridiculous than that.

But yeah, I like where I live now, and I love where I grew up. I'd rather be dead than live in St. Louis.

Luckily for you, STL is not recruiting for new citizens at this time.

boy, that would sure be a tough sell. Hey look, we have an arch!!! We also have a baseball team. You can also... uh.... well ok, that's about all there is to do here, but seriously, come live in St Louis!

First the White Sox win the WS

Then we live through a terrible 06 season

Then the Cards win the WS ...

Why do I BOTHER???????

Dont forget the Red Sox. We're the lone curse team.

Tried to isolate myself from the outside world last night. Did something I hadn't done in 20+ years and went and saw two movies back to back ("Flags of Fathers" and "Death of Pres"). Left my cell phone at home and made sure my mp3 player was plugged into my car.

Didn't find out until around noon today what had happened. Though I think I felt a disturbance in the Force around 10:30pm last night. Like a billion souls all crying out at once.
