I bet people in the stands mistook Neifi for a coach because he's built like an old man, what with the chicken legs and bulging gut.

From the neck down he looks like some middle-aged dad at a fantasy baseball camp.

Oops, I forgot, he has no neck.

I know the perspective is off, but I will laugh if Neifi is actually shorter than Pudge.

According to Tigers.com, Pudge is 5' 9", and Neifi is 6' 0".

Wow, I didn't think they stacked Neifury that high.

Would you rather he just went straight to the clubhouse after the game and sat there?

I know Neifi sucks, but your logic isn't much better.

I agree, even if your not that good (like Neifi) no matter what your still part of the team and even if he wasnt there the whole year you still get excited... and when your Neifi.... he's probably more a fan then a player..

Note: when Neifi hits the game winning grand slam wonder what Dusty will do?

Yeah, OK, it's a stretch to bash him for this. It's not like the picture is of him hogging all the attention or even trying to do so. He's just running out of the dugout and smiling because they won. Actually, I think he might even be HUSTLING out of the dugout...oh, Neifi! You scrappy champion!

Can they make roster moves before the World Series. If they can I would bet a little sum of money that Neifi is not on the WS roster so they can put Shelton on.

I believe they can set their roster each series. Why would they want Shelton on when he wasn't on the first 2 series rosters? Maybe a power PH off the bench for the NL games.

Edit: Duh, because Casey is hurt my bad

you're going to feel bad when Neifi hits the walk off grand slam in game 7

I certainly would feel bad, because I already think it's very highly likely that Neifi returns midseason to back up glassbody Izturis. A walk off grand slam would virtually guarantee it.

Leyland is trying to decide if Neifi or Shelton should hold the last roster spot on the World Series roster.

Link.

Presuming Casey (calf) and right-hander Joel Zumaya (forearm and wrist) are healthy for the World Series, Leyland's final roster decision might come between infielder Neifi Perez and first baseman Chris Shelton.

Leyland carried three backup infielders -- Perez, Infante, and Ramon Santiago -- during the first two rounds, while Shelton was left off.

The possibility of Casey's injury flaring up might make it worthwhile for Leyland to carry Shelton at the expense of a backup middle infielder.

Shelton's presence would provide insurance in the unlikely event that Casey and shortstop/first baseman Carlos Guillen were injured during the World Series. If Shelton were not on the roster, the only other first baseman on the team would be starting catcher Pudge Rodriguez.

Perez has appeared to drop behind Santiago on the depth chart, at least as a defensive shortstop. Perez was 0-for-4 as the Game 2 starting shortstop against the A's when Guillen moved to first base.

This was the closest Neifi thread I could find.

I was at the gym this morning listening to my iPod and watching ESPN SportsCenter while I was working out. Who was in the middle of the huddle firing up the troops?

Neifi. Some guys are just born lucky.

I started laughing so hard I nearly killed myself on the eliptical machine.

It was the Dusty's fear of Lenny that got the Marlins the win in game 1 of the '03 NLCS, so I guess he did contribute a little.
