By the way, I've just discovered http://www.kenpom.com. It's pretty awesome - the best application of statistics to college basketball that I've seen openly available, with pretty clear explanations of what everything is. None of it is perfect, and he readily admits that, but I feel more comfortable with the statistics that he offers than I do with anything else.

Does anyone know of any other sites that do similar stuff?

SIU won the regular season finale, on Senior Night, over Evansville, 76-69. We played brutal on defense, but 30 points from Randal Falker insured a win for us.

After the game, each player cut a piece of the net off celebrating the 5th regular season title in 6 years :D

MVC Tournament begins in Thursday in St. Louis. SIU's first game will be on Friday at noon against one of the play-in game winners.

nice win for DePaul. too little, too late, however

Eh, a win against South Florida on the 3rd, and a miracle Big East Tourney run might be enough. And by miracle run, I mean they pretty much need to reach the championship game.

But yeah, I'm banking on the NIT.

I just wish it wasn't so slow to navigate, otherwise It would pretty much be my only source for college basketball info outside of kenpom.

Indiana blew a double-digit lead and lost to Michigan State. Sad

Hooray for schadenfreude!!

And did I tell you the SEC West sucked or did I tell you the SEC West sucked? Losing at home to Auburn??? Losing to South Carolina? The 2 West teams that won today are the 2 that had no at large chance. Alabama, the only real chance for the West to get an at large will go under consideration with no better than 5-5 in their last 10. The SEC deserves no more than 4 teams.

Michigan pulling off the upset over MSU would be a very nice hidden #s boost for Illinois, as that would have to push UM into the top 50, and give UI nothing but top 50 losses along with just 6 other teams.(OSU, Pitt, Wisky, Arizona, Georgetown, and Winthrop)

Have I become too obsessed with this stuff?

Jay Bilas is a fool. He has FSU as getting in with a 6-9 conference record, yet leaves out Texas Tech. Hey Jay should every single ACC team get a bid? God I hate ESPN.

He just can't fathom that a non-tournament bound team could ever beat his alma mater at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

You all need to leave Jay Bilas alone. He said this morning that "Iowa makes a much better case than most people realize" if we win out and win a game in the Big Ten Tournament.

For that he gets a reprieve from me.

Seriously though he's good. He's the Kirk Herbstreit of college basketball. Instead of favoring the Big Ten in football, he favors the ACC in basketball. But like Kirk, he's fair and gives credit when deserved.

Agreed, Bilas rocks. I find him quite fair, and he was great on color commentary of the greatest comeback in college basketball history.

Ok guys. The time has come to admit this: I am an alumni of Duke University. I know this might alienate some of you, but I am very fair and unbiased in my views on college basketball. I have become a fan of the game itself and not of any particular team.

However, I cheer for Duke and always will.

I'd like to thank Alabama for sucking. What is it with Notre Dame sports and all their "big wins" being devalued over the course of the season due to the team they beat falling well short of expectations?

We're in, so it's a nonissue, but now I'd like a 5 or 4 seed if we can get it. Unfortunately, we'd probably have to make a run in the Big East tourney to have any chance of a 4 (although our RPI rating is rising).

"We've found a Duke fan, may we burn him?"

"How do you know he is a Duke fan?"

"Well, he looks like one."

"Burn him! Burn him!"

Seriously, though, that's okay. You're an alum. You can't help that - and it counts as a legitimate reason to root for them. I grew up in North Carolina, so a lot of my friends are Duke alumni. I still give 'em hell, and I still always root against their team, but it's definitely a mostly friendly rivalry.

So, as a die-hard Tar Heels fan, I say to you: no big deal.

I'm looking forward to (read: terrified of) the game on senior night. It should be a good one.

So long as your team doesn't pay off the refs (sorry, had to).

Was that a dislocated elbow?!!!!

AH!!!!!!! NO!!!!!! And I missed it, why did Hughes Start?

Hughes didn't start, Krabbenhoft did over Butch. Hughes came in early though.

With Butch out, Badgers will have a tough road ahead of them. His midrange was a key in getting the lane open for the Badgers.

Agreed. This is terrible.

That indeed is a dislocated elbow for Brian Butch. He's heavily wrapped up and won't be returning.

Wow - now Flowers goes down. Badgers will need a lot to pill this out. Even more depressing, their tourney hopes are going down the toilet.
