HAHA. You guys are desperate. IU is playing better than Illinois. IU is recruiting better than Illinois. IU is a program on the rise, while you all are figuring out your coach is nothing special without Bill Self's kids. You realize your shot is over, your little run for the last few years has ended, and your program still doesn't have a championship to show for it. You have no evidence of any violations at IU, but you say this "just wait" garbage, because you have nothing, and you had your facts wrong. HAHA.

And yet an injury ravaged U of I team with a coach that is nothing special without Bill Self's kids just beat IU.

Yes they did. We'll see them again though, on their way to the NIT.

Not sure I'd be on my high horse if I was an IU fan. You've got to dig pretty far back into that nostalgic past to find any glory.

As for the future, I doubt there will be any IU national titles coming, maybe forever.

You doubt IU will ever win another national championship? Ever? Um, ok. I'm not going to take a bunch of crap from Illinois fans, they have to go all the way back to, never to talk about any of their own National Championships.

We have to go far back to find any kind of glory at IU? We were in the National Title game 5 years ago.

It's hard to say that-I mean, an IU team almost basically stole a title 5 years ago (came about 7 minutes away) and they weren't really any better than this year's team, for example. Any team can win a title if they have the right pieces, and IU looks in the next year or two to have the right pieces-the problem is that it depends on getting hot at the right time, which is not really something that a team can control.

Ball State upset Ohio today 67-59. Ohio is the two-time MAC tourney representative and came into the game 13-6, so this is a big win if the Cards can use it to springboard somewhere.

Mayo received one technical foul for taunting after scoring on a breakaway dunk, then a second technical for a verbal confrontation with players from the opposing team.

Mayo reportedly followed an official to the scorer's table to dispute the call and made contact, after which the official dropped to the court.

An IU recruit did the same thing in high school, and got suspended for over a year for it. It will be interesting to see if something similar happens to Mayo.

Illiniguy...please read the followng before you make any judgments from afar:

From the IndyStar

have been trying to reach Eli Holman this week but he has been inundated with phone calls. And so when I did talk to his high school coach, he suggested that I email him a few questions and that he would pass them on to Eli and ask him to get back to me that way. So last night I exchanged emails with Eli and this is what he had to say:

(How disappointing is it to be that close to getting to finish your high school basketball career, and then have this kind of setback?)

“This whole situation has been very disappointing because I love the game and wanted to play with my team and help them win. But I don't see it as a setback. It is something that you have to be strong through, show toughness. In life you are going to go through things that are difficult. The things I have been through are hard but it could be worse. I feel lucky that the bullet just grazed me. I am thankful that I will graduate and be at Indiana.''

(Indiana basketball fans are curious as to what they should expect from a player who basically didn't play his final two seasons of high school basketball. What kinds of things have you been doing to stay in basketball shape, and how will not having played in two years affect your ability to come in and do well at IU?

"They should expect a hungry and determined player. I didn’t play last year and led ABCD camp in blocked shots and rebounding. I competed and held my own against some of the top players in the country. That gave me confidence to know that I can play. As far as workouts it is intense .I work 3 to 4 hours a day. A lot of strength training and conditioning, and skill stuff. I have a trainer, and it is intense. I take about 400 shots a day, everything is tracked and charted; I do Mikan Drills with a Medicine Ball; big man drills, and just a lot of stuff to get me used to the physical nature of the Big 10. I also play pickup games against top competition. These guys are ex college and pro guys that played overseas and they are physical big and they make it a point to challenge me to get me ready. I feel that I will do well. Coach Sampson preaches defense and that’s what I want to come in and do. Dominate the boards, and just get extra possessions and shots for my teammates. If coach wants me to come in and rebound, defend and set screens, I will do that. I’m a sponge. I just want to learn and win. I don’t care about stats, I can score and I have range, but if it’s not needed then I'll do the little stuff to win.''

(How scary was the shooting itself and is it something that has still made you fear for your safety?)

"Yeah the shooting is scary. Richmond is a dangerous place and you always have to be on guard. I heard the shots but I've heard gunshots before. It wasn’t until I heard the back glass window explode I knew that I was in danger. I never felt the bullet hit me; I was just concerned about getting out of there and to safety. My friends were with me and I was just like we have to get safe. We were all shocked cause we hadn’t even left the car and just entered the parking lot. I guess the adrenaline was pumping and it wore off and that’s when I felt the burning in my back and noticed I had been shot. As far as safety goes I fear more for my family than myself. It's sobering and real knowing that something like this could happen to you. And after the Terrence Kelly incident were he was a good kid who had a D1 Football Scholarship and was killed, you know that you need a change in environment, and where I stay is too dangerous. Almost everyday someone gets shot. It just so happened I was one of the ones who did. I am just grateful that I have somewhere to go.''

Does that sound like a bad kid to you? Its not his fault he is growing up in a very violent environment.

Your the one that was showing "class" with that comment.

He made a mistake-can people not make one mistake? Here are some of his quotes from an e-mail sent this week to the Indiana beat writer:

He sounds like a kid who's been through a lot in life-from all I've heard about him though, once they take him out of his environment it will be much easier for him. He made a mistake, but he seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulder, and has owned up to his mistake the whole time.

If that's too much of quotes mod I'm sorry-it's not really a published article, but just a blog from the beat writer where he provides more quotes that he couldn't get in the paper. The link is below (believe me, there are some not intelligent IU fans on there, just a friendly warning):

Really not worth arguing any more. If he would have been charged with a DUI or robbery he would be A-OK in Illinois' book.

A-OK? Both instances drew suspensions. Get off the moral high horse, you have the dirtiest coach in the game.

The dirtiest coach in the game? LOL-there's people at major programs who have both had bigger violations and more alleged violations than Sampson ever has. John Calipari just to name one-and I don't think he's on the moral high horse, he's just saying that if IU's recruits don't show class, than the players for Illinois show the exact same lack of class. They either both can make mistakes, or they both should not make any mistakes.

My moral highhorse? Sampson had some mistakes at OK, and he has been reprimanded as well. To say he's the dirtiest coach in the game is a huge assumption.

Illinois fans are so eager to predict that IU will be on probation or in trouble with the NCAA. IU has never been in trouble with the NCAA. Why is it always the school's with the histroy of rule breaking that are so eager to accuse the others?

I guess it takes a history in that department to know what your talking about huh?

Of course Illinois had some glory two years ago, like IU did 5 years ago (Illinois has still never had the ultimate glory though). If you acutally read the post I was responding to the poster saying IU hasn't had any glory in a long time. Everything isn't about Illinois.

The restless natives in Big Blue Country put away their pitchforks, at least for a little while after their Win over Tennessee today.

I'd swear you would think the world was coming to an end with the KY media after a loss.

Yeah-it still takes 2 more national titles for us to catch you :D. That's all right, number 2 and 3 in national titles all time isn't bad!

Sorry to break up the Illinois-Indiana lovefest, but UCLA is up on Stanford 37-25 at the half (despite a poor finish to the half, Stanford went on a 5-0 run to end the half). Afflalo with 17 already.

Oh, and #2 and #3 in national titles isn't bad...but #1 is better. :D

The fire Tubby squad has been active for quite some time, I can't really blame them though.
