Mizzou won both it's exhibition games in convincing fashion, beating UM-Rolla 105-67 on Friday, and the Lithuania Academy 94-40 this evening. Hannah and Brown are going to be the big scorers for the team, and hopefully both Lawrences once one gets healthy and the other is able to play passable defense. Edited by Transmogrified Tiger

Penn State lost to Shippensburg in their final exhibition game. OUCH

Wow...is Shippensburg even Division III?

SIU won their last exhibition game yesterday over Henderson State, 61-44. We held Henderson without a point for the first 10 minutes of the game. I'm ready for the regular season to begin.

IU won its first exhibition game 95-50 over North Dakota. Very balanced attack. Strong defensive performance. Great rebounding. Great from the field. Great from 3.

Got 16 votes in the polls. Gonna be an interesting season. Easiest preseason schedule in a while, with only Duke being a non-winnable game.

I'm not sure about still the easy pre-season schedule. Duke, Southern Illinois, Kentucky, the preseason NIT (hopefully past the first two rounds), and I know this game is actually during the conference season but Connecticut should make this non-conference season again a little too much. I fully support having a couple tests non-conference, but playing what is likely to be 4-5 top 25 teams non-conference (depending on how the preseason NIT goes) before going into the Big 10 is a little too much for me. Well, this team learning the system will certainly be battle-tested by the time it comes to conference play once again, however.

hahahaha... yeah I know their best player (Claxton) is out for a few weeks, but give me a break. And to think some people were telling me PSU would make the NCAA tourney this year.

DeChelis needs to light a fire and fast. PSU's non-con is so weak that they almost need to run the table there before Big 10 play to have a high enough RPI

ND 85, Bellarmine 57 in the 2nd exhibition game. Luke Zeller scores 15 and grabs 9 boards, Russell Carter adds 14 and Luke Harangody snags 9 boards as well. Surprisingly, freshman Zach Hillesland started for ND and scored 7 points and 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. ND opens things up for real against IPFW on Friday.

I love how much flack teams in College Football get for scheduling cream puffs in their non-con schedule, but in Basketball, it's like standard operating procedure

That's because there is accountability for a poor schedule in basketball (it's tougher to perform well in the tournament if you have played cream puffs all season) while you can have a cream puff schedule and get into a BCS bowl in football.

I hope you're right about Brown. He's got unbelievable talent, but he has never put it all together in his first two seasons. He's gotta stop shooting threes and start taking it to the hole (like his Facebook picture).

I haven't been to a game yet, but I look forward to the season opener.

There are a lot more non-con games in basketball than in football. A lot of teams also play in early season tournaments that involve multiple quality teams so the schedule you see now will change. Plus, with most of the conferences, you will play every team twice rather than just once.

As for not scheduling good teams, where did you get that from? Some football teams don't schedule anybody Look at some of the college basketball teams this year:

#1 Florida: vs #3 Kansas, vs #4 Ohio State,

#2 North Carolina: vs #4 Ohio State, vs #22 Kentucky, at #10 Arizona

#3 Kansas: at #1 Florida, vs #15 BC, at South Carolina

#4 Ohio State: at #2 UNC, at #1 Florida, vs #24 Tennessee,

Every major conference team has a couple guaranteed games against other major conference teams that are ranked right now.

In college basketball, which is different than football, is the smaller conference teams and mid-majors routinely pull upsets over the major conference teams. Now it's not day in and day out, but it's not the huge shock that it is in football. The talent level between a major conference school and a mid major in basketball is nowhere near as big as it is in football.

Also, aren't the games going on now just exhibition games that don't count towards a teams record?

It's true, but many teams don't play anyone still. ND plays one decent team before the Big East starts, Alabama at home (although Butler could be considered decent, and ND could play IU in the preseason tourney they're in if things fall correctly). It's not a wise move for a team that got screwed for the tournament in 2004 and 2005 largely based on a not-tough-enough schedule.

CJ Giles was dismissed from Kansas today. Apparently Bill drew the line at him dragging a girl across the floor in the dorms. What an idiot, probably missed out on a pretty good season and tournament appearance.

CJ Giles, our back-up (but probably most athletically gifted) center was reinstated to the team Friday, though he was suspended for the first semester. All of this was due to a pattern of irresponsible behavior that included bad grades, missing practice, and not paying child support.

Last night he was cited for a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend. That's three days after being given his "last chance." Per KC radio, he has been re-dismissed from the team, permanently. Good riddance.

Ha, what an idiot. He was just told no more too. Does he not want to succeed in life or what? How fast does Huggins call him?

Hilarious.

I don't know what's wrong with him. The saddest thing is, his dad moved to Lawrence to be close to him, but that sure hasn't helped keep him in line. This kid had/has NBA written all over him, and while he still could make it, it'll be harder if he doesn't prove himself in college. And while your huggins statement was probably most in jest, I'm sure he'll get a shot somewhere.

At this point, though, he's just an embarrassment, and I'd be real surprised if he ever pulled his act together.

Dude, I just got an email from a KU fan friend that says

Mike

This isn't really that big of a deal, if anything we should appluad young CJ for finally learning how to treat a woman.

Larry Johnson

I am sure someone will give him another shot. I can think of a few coaches who would have questionable enough character to try this kid on. He should go to Texas Tech, I think it would be good for his personal development.

Post all you want about Huggins, but Kstate wasn't the school cited for lack of institutional control....

Dude, it was a joke. Relax, I think everyone knows Bob is willing to give a guy another shot.

SIU has extremely high expectations this season. We're going to be ranked in the top 15-20 to start out the season and we have every starter returning from last year's team as well as most of our bench players from last season. Add that in with a 3-star recruit in Josh Bone, a JUCO transfer, and a walk-on 7 footer, we are going to have some amazing depth this season. Anything less than a Sweet 16 appearance will be a disappointment. I can not wait for the basketball season to start here.

Illinois is going to be a mid-pack Big 10 team this year, barring a miracle, and NIU is going to be a mid-pack to lower-pack MAC team this year. NIU lost their three top players last year and had a decent recruiting class, but I'm not expecting any of their freshman to do anything spectacular this season. As mentioned, I can not wait for the college and NBA basketball season's to get here :D

I am going to miss my boy Bryson McKenzie. Remember that missed dunk he had? He fell right on his back!!!

You haven't given Huggins enough time yet, I'm sure he can get into as much trouble as Dollar Bill if you give him a season or two. :P
