I don't understand Jeff Suppan. He does nothing spectacular in the regular season, then nobody can hit him in the playoffs. What the hell.

I think he was pretty solid in the 2nd half actually. I remember seeing something about how he had one of the top 5 ERA's (maybe top 10) post-ASB. Still though, he shouldn't be pitching this well.

Yeah, Suppan was 6-2 with a 2.39 ERA in 15 starts after the All-Star Break, so he's been amazing somehow for a while now.

Pretty baffling. Perhaps the Cubs should inquire about him?

I'd pitch around Pujols.
That's why I'm not a manager.

Yeah, I would have pitched around him too. But that's why I love the game, you can literally second guess every decision whether they work out or not.

The Mets are overswinging again, they did the same thing vs Weaver

The same Jeff Weaver who has been superb in the playoffs. Different year same story in St.Louis crappy players produce great results.

It's a small sample size, someone who shouldn't succeed in the long haul is bound to get hot.

Is Suppan a free agent? I'm not surprised he's not being talked about more, especially when I just looked up his stats. His highest ERA any of the last 4 years was 4.19, and he going to consistently put up an ERA close to 4. That's always a solid starter-certainly a big step down from the elite starters, but he's just as good as anyone else.

Duncan has him doing some good things as well. He's much more of a FB pitcher than he was w/the Angels.

I'm curious. Say a team has the lead after 5 innings in a game seven and hard, hard rain falls for hours. How long do they wait in a game 7 to call it?
