Tuberville has said it before, and I somewhat agree, that the only way an SEC school will likely be a National Champion is if they institute a playoff system.

While that's not completely true, ie LSU's 2003 National Championship, I agree with him for the most part. It's really hard for an SEC school to go undefeated.

The good thing is for the rest of the teams, if the BCS goes 1-2 OSU/Michigan, then the #3 team is pretty much the other team in the title game. This is getting excited. I am hitting up the big Michigan bar in Chicago for that OSU game ( I am NOT going anywhere near the 4-5 OSU bars in Wrigleyville)

Since I think USC will lose to Cal, it's starting to look like the BCS title game will feature the winner of the UM/OSU game against the winner of the Louisville/WVU game.

Again, I think Louisville if they win have a shot. I don't think the BCS will be very friendly to WVU, even if they go undefeated. I honestly think whoever doesn't lose again between Auburn, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, CAL, and Notre Dame or an undefeated Louisville will play Ohio St. (who will beat Michigan) for the National Championship.

I think Michigan's out if they lose, because they will have lost too late in the year. I think USC is out if they lose at all, because it will likely come to ND or Cal, teams they are competing for the #2 spot with.

I said at the beginning of the year I'd be happy to split the Texas Two-Step, but I'm really disappointed. We could've easily been 9-0 going into Nebraska. But, undefeated in college football is so hard. We gotta man up, and come out and hit these next two teams at home in the mouth. Barring a Mizzou Meltdown, we should go 10-2 at the worst, get into a very good bowl game, and finish in the top 25 to end the season.

The thing that really kills us is now we HAVE to beat Nebraska to have a shot at the North, because even after Nebraska loses to Texas, I really doubt they lose 2 more of @ OSU, @ aTM, and v. Colorado. And Peterson getting hurt plus this loss likely means no Gameday for OU. Crap.

Penn State 2006 = Chicago Bears 2005.
You mean they have Kyle Orton at quarterback?

Well they DID have their #1 and #2 QB's injured, so yeah, we may have Orton at QB next week against the Illini

Didn't Nebraska get creamed by Colorado over Thanksgiving one year and still play in the Title game? I know the computers have changed since them, but it can happen if one team has enough pull. It would take a close loss (to keep the human poll numbers high), but it could happen.

Coker is suspending 8 players

What time does the BCS poll come out?

6 pm, I believe. ESPN projected a top 5 of OSU, USC, Michigan, Texas and West Virginia if I remember correctly.

Don't they come out tomorrow?

No, this year they decided it would be better if the BCS standings came out on Sunday instead of Monday-I'm not sure if that 6 p.m. number is right though, I haven't heard exactly what time though, so it could be right.

Hmm...interesting. At least I'm not crazy for thinking they used to come out on Monday. Thanks for the info.

Wow, I thought Michigan would be ahead of USC.

If Florida had won, USC was supposed to be clearly ahead of Florida-so I'm not surprised that they would be ahead of Michigan either. One computer ranking I saw this morning had USC 1, Michigan 2, OSU 3.

Note on the computer ranking-not overall BCS projected ranking I saw, but just one of the individual computer rankings.

the problem I have with it is not the strength of the SEC (which I believe is severly overrated), it is the weakness of the Big 12, the ACC, and the Pac 10. at least one if not two of the participants always seems to be whoever wins USC/Cal or Oregon (depending on the year), FSU/Miami, and Oklahoma/Texas, while those teams trounce the also rans in their weak conferences.

the thing about the SEC is they are no different than the Big Ten other than perception. year after year, regardless of what the teams actually look like, the SEC heads into the year with 6-7 teams in the top 25, thus 'strength of schedule' is a self fulfilling prophecy. also between those 6-7 teams, they may play 3 or 4 non-conference games against non-patsies, solidifying their those pre-season rankings.

year in, year out, the difference between Fl, GA, Auburn, LSU, TN, AK/AL/SC v. OSU, UM, IA, WI, PSU, NW/MSU/PU is minimal, accept in the perception of the people who vote for these teams.

For those of you that know what Facebook is, IMB! started a group with an absolutely hilarious name (as long as you're not a Sooners fan of course). It's called "Adrian Peterson being out for the season is like a family member dying." Quality.

looks like there was a massive fight between miami and fiu

Because we all know how fierce a rival the Canes are with FIU.

What a bunch of hoodlums.

I think only Texas-Oklahoma can match the intensity of Canes-Florida Int'l

Its intense, more so between the fans being split at the 50 yard line but that doesn't happen. Honestly that doesn't happen anywhere but FSU and Miami. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that neither school could care less how much of a thug or trouble a player has gotten into.

Well, USC is quickly becoming the Yankees/Duke of College Football for ESPN.

Louisville's gotta be the biggest West Virginia fans in the world.

I think they are each others biggest fans right now. I still think Louisville is one of the 3 top teams in the country. WV, top 7 at worst.

Well we didn't hold them as they had over 400 yards rushing. Crud.
