I think it would be cool if the OSU-Texas game were close and they ended up 1-2 at the end of the year and the team that lost got their revenge.

Is there a way to turn off the '8+)'=8)?

Stop whining all you Notre Shame fans, christ, i'm sorry you looked so bad your first week out.

Who's whining? I am pretty sure everyone one here thinks the ND deserved to drop and did not look like a #2 team last week.

I didn't see anyone whining either, at least not on this board. Oh well.

Has anyone watched a game on ESPN360?

No I haven't. I don't think I get it, as I checked to see if it would come up a few days ago. Ball State-Purdue next week is supposed to be on it so I'd like to get it if I can.

I can hardly contain my excitement for Saturday's rendezvous in Austin.

I'm gonna be working and I may call off with some fictitous ailment to watch the game.

What a rebel, I know.

Saw/signed that earlier. It's only one week, but it's ridiculous as to how much game times were reduced. Northwestern's first half against Miami lasted about 66 minutes, and that includes the regular number of TV timeouts. Stupid TV companies.

Heinz and Ngene are out for NU's defense. I was hoping Heinz would be ready to go.

The thing that upsets me about the new clock rules is the inconsistency. If you punt the ball out of bounds, then the clock still starts up when the offense takes the field. Completely contrary to all other situations. I don't have a problem with it on returned punts/kickoffs/interceptions/fumble recoveries, or even fair catches. But when the ball goes out of bounds, the clock stops, it's a simple concept.

I really hate how the clock starts after a change of possession.

I haven't seen/heard of one person who likes the new clock rules. Hopefully the NCAA realizes what a dud this is and goes back to the old rules next season.

Are you surprised? These are the great minds that run our Universities and if this bugs you you should see the way they waste your tuition.

I'm for anything that takes the game out of the refs hands as they're confused enough as it is.

I like the new clock rules. I'd grow tired of all of those 193-146 games that took eleventy hours to play.

yep, and all those running and passing plays were cutting into valuable truck and beer advertisement time

If they wanted to save time, they should have looked into not stopping the clock after first downs.

I agree. i didn't pay close attention to the games on Sat. as I didn't get a chance to watch, but I thought it was the play clock that starts once the ball is placed by the ref after a change of possession and the game clock does not start until the ball is snapped.

Hey, all the NCAA was trying to do was shorten the game so the students attending the games can go out and start drinking again sooner. I'm sure those extra 15-20 minutes were quite painful for those in the stadiums itching for drinks.

Disclaimer: I am not a Notre Dame fan, I am a Tennessee fan

To be honest, and I know I'm gonna get jumped for this, I don't think ND should have dropped at all. Sure, I wasn't impressed with how they played, but who deserved to move up?

USC beat an inferior Arkansas team that will likely be a bottom feeder SEC team this year and it took them until the mid-third quarter to break the game open (it was 16-7 at halftime).

Auburn beat one of the worst I-A teams in the nation, Washington St., and it took them until the second half to pull away.

Georgia Tech is far superior to both those teams, their defense is one of the better in the nation and Calvin Johnson will play in the NFL. The rest of the GT offense isn't special but the defense is.

I think ND should have stayed where they were as should have Auburn and USC, none were overly impressive but all won.

It doesn't matter. These rating are pretty much pointless for the next 8 weeks anyways.

Trust me, I hate preseason polls. They are normally atrosciously wrong, as they were with Tennessee, so why do it? I happen to believe that had USC and Oklahoma not been ranked preaseason 1 and 2 (or at least so extremely high) from the start, that Auburn deservingly would have played in the national championship game.

1. preaseason polls suck, no question about it...my personal idea is to not put them out until teams have played at least one conference game

2. I'm sorry, but anybody who thinks Texas won't run wild on OSU is crazy...no offense to the NIU offensive line, but there is no way they're anywhere near as good as Texas'...and yes, Garrett Wolfe is probably one of the 3 best all-around backs in the country, but Jamaal Charles is no slouch...and sure, maybe OSU wasn't as motivated for the NIU game as they will be this week, but if you can't bring it every week, you're bound to get burned sooner or later

All right Iowa fans, I'm getting pumped up to face your Big Ten country boy team and we are ready to crush you in the Dome!

Man, that was hard to write. Maybe Ferentz will go back home to UConn and coach them next year.

A little fact that all Iowa fans know. Iowa was 1-10, 3-9, and then 7-5 in Ferentz's first 3 years....maybe there is hope.

They will never ever get rid of preseason polls, as the networks want little numbers next to the teams when they advertise their games
