okay seriously can anyone explain why hope solo was benched for brianna scurry today? Hope Solo is a better player now, and she had played well (and pitched 300 shutout minutes in a row) coming into the game. Then you switch and go to someone who hasn't played, because she used to be good and has a good track record against Brazil? Don't get me wrong, the U.S. got outplayed and was probably losing that game no matter what, but the decision to go with Scurry was incredibly stupid, IMO. And I don't blame Solo for saying that the Ryan made the wrong decision, because he did.

 

 

Plus Hope Solo is kinda hot.

 

Yeah I dont get the move either, but i dont think it would have changed much. 2 of the goals Solo might have stopped but I dont think that she could have stopped the own goal. I can understand why she called out the coach and she was justified. But I dont think that she should have been putting down Scurry which she seemed to do. It was not Scurry's fault that Ryan put her in and she is your teammate so you should support her.

 

i don't think it would've changed anything either, but the U.S. played very poorly. It didn't seem like they were as focused, and maybe the change in goal had something to do with that. You don't go with a backup who hasn't played unless you have to, especially when the starter has been playing pretty well. That'd be like taking Sean Marshall out of the rotation and inserting Steve Trachsel (oh wait...)

Ryan said it was because Brazil was good enough to get shots at close range, and that Scurry was one of the best in the world at reaction saves. He was obviously wrong.

 

I think that's the key word right there.

no kidding. I doubt it will happen, but if I were president or CEO of USA soccer, I would replace Ryan after the Norway game. The decision to start Scurry was just inexplicable. Kind of like Grady Little sticking with Pedro for too long, to me this is just a fatal error that can't be excused. Ryan has lost the trust of the goalie of the future, and I suspect several other members of the team, so he should be gone. The development of elite players (especially in the midfield) hasn't been as good, and that's not Ryan's fault, but the U.S. team should not have been so thoroughly outclassed by Brazil.

I don't know much about socer but to me this move seemed to be a symbol of the idiotic notion that experience is ALL that matters.

 

It's right out of the old school manager's handbook.

 

But like I said, I don't know a whole lot about socer.

I've moved up to 3rd in the NSBB league, but my 'real team' which is not in the NSBB league is now in 26th place. Overall. Out of 1.3 milllion teams. It's the #2 team in the USA, by 3 points. Quite a thrilling run, really, to see your team on the front page of the overall leaderboard.

Now 6th overall.

2nd Man Utd fan.

1st from the USA.

In an interview with sidelineviews, an LA Galaxy blog, Bob Bradley said they are "In talks" with Giuseppe Rossi about a call up to the senior squad.

 

 

 

 

Nothing will come of this, but it is worth mentioning.
