Wow, I don't think any American Sports manager faces the amount of pressure they get over in Europe or even in South America for that matter. I thought he has does a great job.

Maurinho and Abramovich just did not see eye to eye on players. Not winning the Premier League or Champions League last year, along with their recent poor form and drawing at home to Rosenborg... I'm surprised, but not surprised. I could see him taking over the Portugal team, I just hope he doesn't wind up at Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson leaves in a few years. He directed boring football at Chelsea. Good and productive, but boring.

He was (is) a great interview, though, his post-match quotes were always something to behold.

I get the feeling that Abramovich and Steinbrenner would be BFF should they ever met. Had to do the BFF, the old lady text messaging commercial cracks me up.

Very similar, I agree. Steinbrenner learned to have baseball people control most of his moves, though, I think. Abramovich won't win if he controls the football moves.

How good are Arsenal?

us nsbb'ers could put together an 11 and give derby a match.

seriously, i like how they went young for stretches last year, this summer they lost henry, and so far haven't missed a beat.

Fabregas and Adebayor have been unreal, and Van Persie hasn't really gotten hot yet. And they have Walcott waiting in the wings. I have been very impressed at their attacking style and run of play so far this season. They don't resemble an English team at all.

I'd pay to make that happen. What would an NSBB Best XI look like?

We'd be pretty deep at keeper. Marco laid claim to the spot, Brinoch's a keeper, and I could do it as well. I don't have the creativity to play up top or the endurance to play midfield, so I'll play stopper or something. I say we go with Seth on the other defensive flank because he'll play dirty and such. Brinoch would make a good sweeper. USS is a target player, Soccer10k is an attacking mid, Raisin with his endurance makes an outside winger, and that's all I got. We need what, 3 more midfielders?

I have 18 years of experience playing in defense (any position) with this team (website in Dutch only) between 1972 and 1990  Edited by wvcbxl

I'm not tall enough to play your prototypical target. Withdrawn/second forward was always my best position. I can play any of the top 6 spots in a 4-4-2, though.

I played forward before I became a keeper. I've been playing a combination of forward/wing over the summer as I transition back into the field. I'm in good shape, so I can handle midfield -- though not the middle. My first touch and dribbling isn't where I want it to be, but my passing is very good. I'm also fast (for a 32 year old).

I used to play left-midfield for a while before I became keeper, and then moved backwards, slowly. I got the number four because I was quite a good covering midfielder (don't quite have the stamina at the moment) and then moved back and back because I became increasing phobic about leaving my half of the field.

okay honestly i kinda suck so if you can find 11 people who are competent players, i should be left off. i pretty much play the "he won't hurt you too much" defense.

That could describle 3/4 of the defenders I've ever had as teamates.

I actually came from an area where all of the defenders also were a part of the football team and played a similar linebacker style. Never played dirty, but nothing ever came cheap. It was also helpful where my freshman and sophmore year when we had 3 bench clearing fights in two years.

Ok, are we talking about where we played when we last played because that would be left back for me, but in reality if we are fielding a best 11, I should probably be the equipment manager. I stopped playing when I moved to a high school that didn't have a soccer team my Sophomore year.
