That giveaway goal at the end of the first leg was the decider.

Some bad penalties in Atletico-Bayer. Three players hit it over the top and another had a terrible penalty right down the middle that was saved.

Jeebus, today's CL games have been garbage. Dortmund is getting pantsed at home and Aguero just missed a PK that would have made that tie at least interesting late.

Tim Howard is done, guys. Stick a fork in him.

He had his one last, final hurrah when Belgium put 80% of their shots right at him; he's dreadful at this point.

PSG-Barcelona

Atletico-Real

Porto-Bayern

Juve-Monaco

First two ties should be good.

It's sad. I follow Everton closer than any other Europe team and its been terrible to see him fail. At least most of the fans respect him enough to not completely turn on him, and place most of the blame on Roberto Martinez.

It's really the worst. People are going to have to take time off for thanksgiving and christmas around it, so tons of people are not going to be up to travel there or take pto to watch during the day. Absolute bull [expletive].

Given the current state of the Middle East how many people are even going to want to travel their?

Qatar is about as safe as it gets from a violence and crime perspective. And it's hot and exotic.

I think people will end up going, despite the instability of the region overall. The World Cup would obviously be a terrorist target, but it always is -- I don't think the increased risk is THAT great.

ETA: UAE attracts over 10m visitors annually. If they can do it without much, Qatar can draw for a global event. I'd guess that alcohol and sex restrictions would be bigger red flags from potential visitors than instability/terrorism.

As long as you don't count the thousands of slave labor deaths as violent.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are never in the World Cup Final, so I don't anticipate many tourists getting mistakenly worked to death.

And a country known for funneling money into terrorist groups. I have no doubts it's safe today buts it's hardly assured of being safe 1 year from now given the location and the spread that's happening in the Middle East. And as Goony mentioned the slave labor death tolls will be in the 1,000's and higher than we will ever now.

Jesus Gerrard. You were in the game like 50 seconds. Sent off for stomping on Herrera.

I have no idea what he was thinking on that.

Can anyone else remember another player getting sent off after less time on the field than that?

chelsea up 2-0 on hull city in a nice comfortable snoozer 26 minutes in, then give up an extremely impressive goal and a complete nonsense goal in 75 seconds.

I feel like I saw it happen one other time, but I couldn't tell you when.

I've never seen a player with Gerrard's pedigree do it, though.

Just saw this and thought it was pretty cool - map of US Open participants.

Kind of surprising that Cincinnati, Cleveland and Nashville don't have teams in the top 3 divisions.
