Will you indulge me a semi-dumb soccer question?

We got tickets to see the US team play in KC in July in a Gold Cup match. Doesn't look like MLS is taking a break for that. Will they pull their best team from the MLS rosters for these matches? And related, how much does the national team care about the Gold Cup?

Yep, they will have their best team. The Gold Cup is very important towards us playing in the Confederation Cup in 2017 in Russia as a prep for the WC.

Awesome, thanks!

So, soccer guys...what's the deal with FIFA? Do most of you look at them as a necessary evil, or a corrupt organization that needs to be burned down? I've been following this stories from Qatar and the corruption just seems beyond the pale.

Can't imagine you'll find someone here that says anything other than "corrupt."

How long has it been this bad? We complain about the screwups and bad choices of the NFL and the MLB all the time, but this just seems so next-level.

"Corrupt" doesn't even do it justice. It's cartoonish.

It's like the NCAA if you're into watching teens play sports. You hate them, but you can't do anything about them.

And just like that the U.S. drops corruption charges against FIFA and the Swiss are helping to extradite them to the U.S. Got to believe they have something solid here. No way does this happen without it.

The charges include wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering. Maybe I'm wrong but prior to the election this is a big [expletive] you towards Blatter.

[expletive] just got real - I am stunned the Swiss had the balls.

And now they've launched their own investigation on payments made to get the 2018 and 2022 World Cup.

A big [expletive] you towards Blatter would have been arresting him

On the one hand, these are all CONCACAF and CONMEBOL people so superficially it doesn't link to the bids. On the other hand, this is how the JOD goes after large organizations; starting on the margins and working their way in.

4 of these guys have already agreed to pleas; they're going after Blatter and/or Platini.

Isn't the way this worked that all the south american guys took money to support the russian/qatari bids?

It might be more a matter of who didn't take money. The CAF (Africa) are another block who took money for Qatar.

Huh? Platini is UEFA, not FIFA, and an outspoken opponent of Blatter.
