MLS really seems to have screwed up hard with this Lampard business. Makes the league look small time and confirms that NYCFC is going to be Chivas NY, basically.

Spurs 4-1 up on Chelsea? Goals from Danny Rose and Andros Townsend (albeit on a PK)?

I must be still asleep.

What an amazing day. Even when I woke up and saw that ManU, West Ham, Liverpool and Swansea had all tied and that Southampton beat Arsenal, I knew at least Spurs wouldn't lose 3 points to a bunch of teams. Then they go out and beat Chelsea. Up to 5th, 1 up on Arsenal, 5 up on Liverpool, 3 back of ManU in thrid with Palace, Sunderland and West Brom coming up.

Third straight year they've taken 10 out of 12 points from the game before Christmas through New Years day.

Mourinho essentially without explicitly saying it took a shot at City using NYCFC to avoid financial fair play rules.

Paraphrased: they can sign anyone in New York and bring them over and no one will say anything so no one will stop them.

The worst part is that NYCFC made it seem like he signed a contract with them; he never signed anything. So NYCFC sold a bunch of season tickets marketing a guy they never had under contract. He was only under contract to MCFC.

We kind of all had an inkling of that when the MLS salaries came out and he and David Villa were listed as making the league minimum. I believe Melbourne is the shell company paying David Villa so they take up less more room on NYCFC's cap.

Petke out, Jesse Marsch in at NYRB and the Kljestan to NYRB rumors immediately start. Marsch was his mentor when Kljestan broke into the league at Chivas USA. Double footing Beckham together, etc.

So...Perry Kitchen as a defender is crazy. Crazy smart? I guess we'll see. Happy to see Wil "lil Mike Bradley" Trapp and Marc Pelosi as well.

We beat Canada out for a promising striker prospect yet again in Akindele. Hope he pans out.

Non-DP deal for Diskerud. Surprised, but think that's more than fair.

Edit - Appears he's on DP money but they're paying it down with allocation, so probably around 700k. MLS is the best, man. Allocation dollars!

Linesman in the Tottenham game doesn't know the offsides rule. Flagged Tottenham for offsides on a breakaway at the end of the game even though the player who received the ball was in his own half when the ball was played.
