They looked REAL bad today.

Luckily, they got a few no-calls towards the end of the game, or they would have lost.

They are playing ugly soccer at this point.

Mexico advances to the semis, but just barely. They defeated Costa Rica 1-0 after 120 minutes of play.

As poorly as the US is playing right now, they'd still destroy Mexico. And I sure hope we get the chance to see that happen next Sunday.

All I'm going to say is that every player not named Tim Howard was bad today, and I'm glad the game is over and we won.

I watched maybe twenty minutes of it and Hejduk still sucks. 11 cards issued overall. It looked like a brutal game to watch.

It was. None of the field players put together a complete game. Donovan and Dempsey probably played the best of the outer 10, but each made horrible decisions in front of goal and neither really was consistently good for any length of time. Dempsey's play in the 18 made me cringe. All he had to do was make a simple shot and he tried to deke the keeper and he got dispossesed. He's really lucky Panama didn't equalize. Donovan's 2 clear chances made me curse. He's so damned useless sometimes. He should have had 3 goals. And I won't even comment on Taylor Twellman.

At least they (Dempsey and Donovan) connected on the play that led to the PK. That was an awesome pass and awesome run. Beasley showed why Donvan should stop taking free kicks.

Hejduk SUCKS. The back 4 are going to get lit up against a side with any quality attacking players. They were so, so bad.

Th ref was awful, and Panama embarassed themselves.

The game on Thursday should be mighty interesting. Canada has some really good attacking players.

I thought it was great that the one piece of skill that Hejduk showed, where he drew some defenders at the 18 and then slipped in a good entry pass, went directly to Taylor Twellman who, of course, missed horribly on a simple chance.

I'll also say that I'm really pissed at Gooch's yellow card, where he didn't even foul the guy, but then again he deserved it for some of his later antics so it all evens out. The ref was so clueless. it was very amusing, however, to see all the US player condescendingly patting him on the back throughout the game.

Bradley continues to show me very little in midfield. As much at it feels strange to say it, I missed Feilhaber a bit today.

The Jozy Altidore show cannot start soon enough.

I don't get the Bradley thing. Feilhaber seems ahead of him as far as tactical ability. That said, neither one of them really wows me. They both seem to have a Reyna-esque quality about them, and I hate me some Claudio Reyna.

That leads me to an observation. I know it's just CONCACAF jokers we've been playing lately, but doesn't it seem that the US attack just seems much more dangerous than it did a year ago? We've generating chances even against packed in defenses, switching fields, playing nice combinations to send guys free...it's just the finishing that seems to not be there. Is it Bradley letting these guys play a more free flowing attacking style, the fact that Reyna isn't there slowing everything down, or the opposition? Or is it a bit of both?

+1 on Jozy Altidore, and an additional shout out to Gabriel Ferrari. Very much looking forward to those two.

Yeah. Big difference living here until age 17 or 18 and leaving at age 12 or 13 like Rossi, though.

We had no shot with Rossi. His family pretty much pushed him towards Italy right away.

spain's la liga finished their season sunday. real madrid won 3-1, after being down 1-0 into the second half. barca was tie with points but madrid held the tie breakers. the madrid game was fantastic. gol tv was amazing. ray hudson, an announcer pitches a tent everytime someone takes a shot. i thought he was going to have a coronary when madrid took the lead.

madrid have so much damn talent on the team, its ridiculous. robinho is turning into a world class player. it was madrid's first silverware in 4 years. also beckham's last game, tom cruise was at the game with his "wife". they kept showing him on the broadcast. apparently, he and becks are buds. way to get off on the right foot with your american audience, beckham, tom cruise is a joke.

My cousin was in Spain and around the bars for the game. He said it was nuts when Real Madrid won.

I can believe it. I was watching Real vs. Bayern in a bar in Spain (in this season's Champions League). When Bayern scored, one of the barment went absolutely stir-crazy. I thought he'd spilled oil on his whatnots or something. He was, I assume, a Barcelona fan.

Right now I would not be the least bit suprised if Canada won. I actually might be suprised if the US wins. I don't know how much of a difference Klinnsman would make, but I regret every decision they made to not get it done.

U-20 WC is just around the corner. I am assuming its going to be on Fox Sports World. I need to look into that.
