Spain hasn't lost since November 2006, a 1-0 loss to Romania.

WHAT? A straight red?

Seriously, WTF. There's no way that's a red. That's barely a yellow card.

I really hope the Confederations Cup has rules that red cards can be looked at and overturned.

I doubt it since Kljestan's wasn't a red either and that didn't get overturned.

Well, the US winning, let alone by 2 goals, is certainly... surprising.

Congrats, this is a huge win. This should get you guys some more international respect.

Holy hell that was awesome.

I really wish we hadn't lost our best mid on a foul that wasn't even a yellow, but holy hell that was awesome.

That has to be the biggest result from US Soccer in...longer than I can remember.

I'd still rank 3-2 over portugal and 2-0 over Mexico above that, maybe even 2-1 vs. Columbia from 1994. Just because those are the World Cup and this is the Confederations Cup.

2-0 over mexico is definitely tops, considering it was [expletive] mexico

Howard and Onyewu were unbelievable.

I feel bad for Onyewu because on any other day he would get Man of the Match, but there's no doubt that Howard gets it today.

Maybe the Portugal result, but I'd argue this means just as much because Spain is a much better squad than anyone they've beaten in years, and Spain was taking this cup as seriously as any.

Yeah, the World Cup adds a certain je ne sais quoi that the Confederations Cup can't match. I think all three of those results have to trump this one just because of that. This is right up there for best win ever though, especially best non-WC win.

Definitely. I'm not sure there's a game I enjoyed more (today's included) than beating Mexico in the World Cup.

I'm so freaking happy right now that I'm not even going to get upset at our insipid soccer press and their inevitable [expletive] commentary.

ITALY SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYING INSTEAD OF THE US!!

Plus, getting to the final 8 in the World Cup just means a whole lot more than making the finals of the Confederations Cup.

But yeah, this was a huge result.
