I like this.

Whoever wins the Belgian Championship goes straight to the CL group stage if that result holds. 8-) (due to the UEFA ranking game)

Apparently there's no appealing red cards in the Champions League so Fletcher will unjustly miss the final.

It wasn't even a foul, imho.

A player and a goal down in the 93rd minute and Barcelona gets the goal that should send them to the final.

Drogba looks like he's two seconds away from killing the referee. Then he looks at the camera and says "It's a disgrace. It's a effing disgrace."

Completely unrelated trivia (as compared to the night's big game): a Palestinian soccer team played their first game in Europe tonight, beating second division side FC Brussels 1-3 in a friendly.

Gah.

What the hell was that?

I thought Ballack was actually going to kill the ref.

I had to watch the last 10 minutes from work on the Gamecast and the person typing made it sound like Drogba will be getting reviewed by UEFA.

ha, i told my buddy the same thing. the funny part was his chasing the ref down the field only being about 3 inches away the entire time without touching him.

It's so easy to forget how young Freddy is. Geez, kid's not even 20 yet.

SBI

In news that didn't exactly surprise anybody, Freddy Adu is heading back to Benfica after this season. I know, shocking that Monaco wouldn't keep a player it never played. Will Adu actually stay at Benfica and get some playing time next season? I'm not so sure, but what I do wonder is how many U.S. national team events Benfica will let Adu take part in. He could theoretically be on the CONCACAF Gold Cup roster (assuming he doesn't make the Confederations Cup roster) AND he could still play for the U.S. Under-20 national team in the fall in the Under-20 World Cup. Here's hoping he can play in both those tournaments.

At this point I'd normally think it'd be counter-productive to have Freddy play in his second u-20 World Cup, but maybe that's what he'd need to get some confidence back. It's not like he's match tired from all the action at Monaco this year and he could use it to reassert his value to Benfica or some other team who might be interested in buying him. Personally I'd love to see him at like a PSV or Ajax. Another team to start fresh who wants him.

Holland would probably be perfect for him.

AFA the summer is concerned, he should feature on the Gold Cup roster. That team should be built around him. He's nothing left to prove at the U20 level-why play him there?

ok guys, i'm a usmnt virgin and need some help/advice.

some friends and i are looking to go to the match v. honduras on june 6th. if i want to sit with a pro-american crowd is it essential to sit in sam's army? they seem to sit behind the goal, any word on which end they'll be in at soldier field? is it fine to sit with the general crowd or i am going to be surrounded by hondurans? any recommendations on where to get tickets? ticketmaster sucks, but i don't know what else is out there.

thanks

Sam's Army is south endzone on the eastern half, I believe.

My only experience with a USMNT match is the Gold Cup final against Mexico. I'd imagine you'd be fine anywhere, though. If you're not super into it going in, you probably wouldn't want to jump right into a designated US fan supporter's section like Sam's Army.

Not sure about ticket recommendations. Tickets seem to be selling well, but not a ton on stubhub or ebay.

Can you even get Sam's Army tickets anymore? I would think not, now that we're so close to the game.

My suggestion is buy random tickets on Ticketmaster, go to the game early, park in one of the South Loop parking lots, wander over and tailgate on the Waldron deck with the diehards, and then go in and enjoy yourself.

I'll be in sec 119.

thanks for the tips guys. ticketmaster still has us supporters section tickets listed during the search option so i assumed that would be sam's army section, maybe i'm wrong.

its not Sam's army, I don't think

next to the option was an area to enter a code to purchase tickets and listed above it's "Sam's Army, etc.".

i am proven incorrect.

The only Sam's Army/US Supporters seats left are in the 300s, by the way. But I'm not sure that there are any 100 level seats left anywhere.
