ManU trying to let Liverpool back in the title race. Down 2-0 to Tottenham at Old Trafford. A loss would have Liverpool ahead on goal differential with ManU having a game in hand.

So much for that. Man U just put up their 4th in the 2nd half and now lead 4-2.

Klinsmann is stepping down at Bayern.

Source? It's not on Bayern's site or Soccernet.

haha, I clicked on the link on soccernet about the NFL stadiums being the main target for the WC in 2018 or 22, and in that it had the link for Klinsmann. Of course I didn't realize see it was from 2006, and thats why they didn't mention much of anything. Strange that was attached to a new article.

This is what I get for screwing around at work today.

Well you were almost right: Klinsmann got the boot after Saturday's loss to Schalke.

Jupp Heynckes is rumored to come back.

Ryan Giggs started 12 games this year. Awful.

Today's Times half covers this;

There is no stand-out candidate, which is why voting on sentimental grounds feels acceptable

I say Brede Hangeland should have got it or, given how much Villa have flunked since his injury, Martin Laursen.

Frank Lampard.

Hangeland or Lampard would have been very deserving. Hangeland has made a giant difference in Fulham's performace this season.

Klinsmann was sacked today by Bayern, btw.

I almost find this a little amusing considering my mistake last week. As far as I am concerned, there is still a place welcome for him with the USMNT.

I agree. The 27 year old, prime of his career in next year's world cup, centre back FROM HOUSTON, TEXAS is having an outstanding year and could quite possibly move to a big club after his stellar performances this season.

Now that I've watched him week in and week out, I'm over him. His strengths are motivation, his weaknesses are man-management and tactics. For the US, man-management and tactics are much more important.

0-0 at the half. Chelsea seems content to sit back and defend and their only chances have come on Barcelona mistakes at the back (well done, Marquez).

It just seems like this one is destined for a 1-0 or 2-0 Barcelona win since they're too good to be kept off the scoresheet when the opponent doesn't care about possessing the ball (73-27 for Barcelona) or attacking in any way.

I believe Marquez going down was the first time any Mexican player had gone down as if he had been shot and it was actually a real injury.

Ends 0-0.

I have to think that this has to be a big boost to Chelsea, even though they were unable to get an away goal. They were the first team to keep Barcelona scoreless since August and the first to do it all season at the Camp Nou.

I still think Barcelona will advance but they can't be too happy with the result today. They didn't give up an away goal but Chelsea's only chances came on Barcelona mistakes and Barcelona absolutely dominated the possession.

Unless a bone is sticking out its hard to believe its a real injury ;-).

It makes Joachim Low look more impressive, actually.

And lord knows I wish the USSF had the coin to hire Guus to come here for just one cycle.

Arsenal's defense is getting absolutely shredded right now. If it wasn't for Almunia coming up with some huge saves, Man U could be up two or three goals right now instead of just one.

Half of Glasgow like Mo and his toughness

In Maurice Edu, Rangers, at long last, also have an American midfield player who is truly beginning to show his mettle on a sustained basis. Edu, a player many of us have doubted since he arrived in Glasgow (partly because we hardly saw him), has plenty skill but is also quite an enforcer.

They're also interested on his thoughts on the upcoming Old Firm with Rangers only 3 points behind Celtic with 3 weeks to go.

Game, set, match.

Man U up 2-0 in the first 10 minutes. The first goal was a little luck since an Arsenal defender fell down but the second one was a rocket free kick from Ronaldo.
