Surely this is our Vance from Monroe, LA in the View from a Cubs fan dated 8/7?

Has there been a thread on this that I missed?

If not, way to go Vance!

HA! If the media won't mention Larry Dierker, Vance will do it for them!! Way to go Vance! Only thing missing is the NSBB plug...heh.

Is it reasonable to think that Brenly may end up being another dierker? in that with having two years in the booth he is seeing more statistical analysis and starting to blend the old-school with the SABR? this year, in general, I think he has talked a lot more about plate discipline and OBP than I remenber last year. Not sure if that's completely true but whenever I am listening he seems to be pointing out that the Cubs offensive failures lie in their inability to be patient and willing to take a walk.

great article by the way. that was a well-thought out article, granted they don't give you many words, that voiced a manager that would focus on what the team needs to succeed rather than just ragging on Dusty and wanting change for the sake of change.

wtg Vance!

Also, thanks for recommending the 7&7. They're excellent.

I thought Vance was in the "Hire Davey Johnson" bandwagon (I refused to shorten it, ), so if this is the "Real Vance" then he has had some flipping of the mind.

Nah...he's been firmly for Dierker first, Johnson second...pretty closely for quite a while.

Didn't Vance start the Dierker for manager thread as well?

Yep, I think Vance's backing solidified after reading Dierker's book.

Yep, I think Vince's backing solidified after reading Dierker's book.

...and finding out that it was signed.

Wow...I just got back from watching Saints traing camp today (and getting Reggie Bush's auto :) ) and so I've been MIA. I'm happy to see I made the Trib....this is my third such time to make it!

As for those who've questioned my flip flopping to Dierker.

My choices have always been 1. Davey Johnson 2. Fredi Gonzalez 3. Larry Dierker.

However, just recently I read Dierker's book and checked out his blog more closely and have since moved Dierker to the top of the list. I still think Johnson and Gonzalez would make excellent choices as well, and I'd definitely be happy if any of the three were made the next Cubs manager.

He now wears #25. He showed some nice moves, especially once during kick returning drills.

I also got Brees, Horn, and about 18 others on my ball. They were very accomodating after practice. Horn is one of the most personable guys out there.
