Isn't Thomas Jones injured as well right now? If so, when is he supposed to return?

"indefinitely"

Uh, I'm not sure that's right.

Anyway, this is terrible news. At least it wasn't Rex.

Based on watching the video here are my guesses

1) Subluxation. That's when it pops partially out and right back in, but it leaves it feeling dead for a while. Based in his reaction, that's what it looked like to me. Then again, a subluxation is very minor, Benson is a professional football player, so he should be able to deal with pain, that's what leads me to thinking it's a bit more serious.

2) Separation. Depends on severity, hopefully it wouldn't keep him out too long.

But if he'd never felt #1 before...it might has just scared him. I'm hoping it's something like that.

What's the difference between a separation and a dislocation?

i agree with dan bernstein--urlacher is a "desert simpleton".

if you live in the midwest, it's the same thing as a "river rat"; in the west, it's "mountain people"; in the east, it's good ol' "hillbilly".

i guess that's not the point, because mike brown is supposed to be "real smart", at least he should have known better.

Urlacher didn't hit Benson very hard and it could be that he just hit him in the wrong place. Sometimes those things just happen. And Mike Brown didn't really even hit Benson.

Yeah. That was more of a bump than a hit by Urlacher. I'm not even sure that Brown touched Benson at all, let alone made significant contact.

Did you even see the hit? Brown barely touched him, Urlacher's hit wasn't that bad and what I'd expect of practice.

It really didn't look that bad, I hope it's not too serious.

Well that was barely even a hit. Are the guys not supposed to bring a guy to the ground yet in trainign camp or did Cedric yell out in pain and told the guys not to tackle him? Was it just me or did Mike Brown not seem to be a big fan of Benson.

I'll be happy if it's only two weeks:

Bears | Benson will miss at least two weeks

Sat, 5 Aug 2006 11:20:43 -0700

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears RB Cedric Benson (shoulder) is expected to miss at least two weeks with a shoulder injury. X-rays and a medical evaluation were pending.

Ugh, figured it'd happen to the star of camp:

ESPN.com[/url]"]Also Friday, starting wide receiver Bernard Berrian left practice with a right hip-flexor injury.

Earlier in the day, guard Terrence Metcalf and wide receiver Airese Currie underwent arthroscopic knee surgery after experiencing knee pain. They both had missed practices the previous day.

The Bears are looking more Cub-like daily.

Yeah, they both look like they can win as many as 19 games in a year.

Hahaha. Touche.

It just sucks that our two really good RB are injured now....

I still think Adrian Peterson could be a stud in this league, given the opportunity. We definitely need Benson/Jones, but AP could definitely step in and be a solid back.

It's a lot better than having them injured a month or 2 from now. The offense hasn't changed, for the first time in a while, so it's not that big of a deal that the 2 RBs are hurt in preseason. I do worry about both long-term though. Benson has had 2 injuries now and has only played a handful of actual games. Jones has never been a picture of durability.

Oh yeah, and AP cannot be stud. I think he could be a solid #2, getting 10 or so carries a game, but I wouldn't want him for 20-25 touches.

This looks like a sprain *knocks on wood*

X-Rays negative. Benson said today he admits he was a little freaked out when it happened because he's never really been injured much, but that now it just feels sore.

Doctors will re-test him in a bit.

There's a possibility we will have all 3 RBs in time for the season, which is still 5 weeks away.

I think Peterson could be very good, given the chance. But maybe I'm just swayed by this:

Another Injury at Bearbonnais.

Fullback Bryan Johnson goes down this time, with an injured hammy. In probably a bit more important news, Bradley has looked good with Berrian sidelined (although according to the blurbs at the bottom of the page Berrian will be working out again on Monday :D ). Also, the coaching staff continues to rave about Rex's performance, lets just hope he can make it through the preseason games this year...

Berrian looks to be the #2 guy right now. From what I have heard, Bradley is not nearly 100% yet and can't make cuts and stop and go like he used to. I hope he doesn't rush back. Although he doesn't have great speed, I liked what I saw last year. I have also been hearing that people don't think Musin could be a #1 WR on most teams. He was probably the best WR in 04, and yes he dropped a ton of balls last year, but I expect some big plays and 10 TD's at least this year. A healthy Grossman or Griese will make Moose look much better.
