why are the Cubs not involved? He's not a two month rental and other than Zambrano, Lee and ARam I would offer them whatever they are looking for. Murton, Cedeno, Pie, pitching whatever, I think a good package could be made and then in the off season look for LF, 2B and starting pitching. It would be a good move to start the 2007 roster early.

Hendry is very puzzling. I guess he's evaluating the situation!

Probably because we don't have enough to offer. Apparently, they turned down an offer from the Angels that included Ervin Santana. while the Orioles are listening, they aren't going to give him away without getting the best of the deal.

Where did you see that? If that's true Baltimore is not smart.

It was mentioned on ESPN News by Buster Olney an hour ago that the Angels have offered Ervin Santana and Aybar for Tejada, and that the Orioles are considering it.

They should take it.

I probably would.

And you know the CUbs have not asked about Tejada.... how?

The way I see it, the Orioles still owe us for the Patterson deal, so maybe they'll be likely to work out a deal.

From their standpoint, the Cubs obviously can't evaluate talent and they feel they can fleece the Cubs again.

The Cubs are good at evaluating talent, they are just terrible at developing it :D

Um, then why are Rusch, Williams, Neifi, Pagan, and Bynum here?

Washington Post"]Despite a flurry of recent activity concerning Tejada, the Orioles don't seem close to making a blockbuster move involving Tejada before Monday's trade deadline. The Orioles have not been impressed with any offers as yet, and owner Peter Angelos said he is still not inclined to trade Tejada.

"I think I've said that a number of times," Angelos said. "Nothing has changed. If the offers were so substantial that the pros believe it ought to be done, I'd yield to their opinion. So far I haven't heard anything that changes my mind. There's been offers, but we think Tejada is special. I think he's proven that. We have three more years with Tejada and he's capable of doing greater things than he's done."

Doesn't sound like Tejada is going anywhere. Also, is there any other owner in baseball that micromanages like Angelos does?

Steinbrenner although less now than in the past.

Are any of you who are complaining aware of what the Orioles are asking for? ESPN has been reporting that they turned down an offer of Ervin Santana and Erick Aybar from the Angels.

That's insane. We can't match that. They want ML ready (or near ready) prospects. We have no position players on the level of Aybar and no pitchers on the level of Santana.

That is because Peter Angelos is crazy. He should have took Aybar and Santana. That could actually improve the Oriole organization. But, he prefers the status quo. A bad team with one highly marketable player.

What's insane is that the Orioles actually said no to that deal. I would do that deal in a heartbeat if I were the Orioles.

We can match that, but it wouldn't be worthwhile. I really like Tejada and think he could still help this team for the near future, but if Angelos doesn't want to accept Aybar and Santana for him, the kind of package he would accept likely would decimate almost any farm system.

If Tejada was a FA, I wouldnt be too thrilled to sign him to a 3 yr 38M contact, let alone give up very quality ML talent to acquire him and his contract. PASS.

While Tejada is on pace to put up career highs in AVG/OBP/OPS and a near career high in SLG, it wouldn't be worth it for the Cubs to get him considering what the Orioles would likely want in return. Any such deal is likely to hurt the Cubs in the future rather than help them.

Maybe through sheer quantity but not quality. We can't give them a pitcher the caliber of Santana or a position player the caliber of Aybar. Those guys are both very cheap and ready to play immediately (or at least next spring for Aybar).

OC Register"]he Angels continued to forge through obstacles in their aggressive push to trade for Baltimore Orioles slugger Miguel Tejada.

It appears the Angels added a third player – possibly 19-year-old pitching prospect Nick Adenhart – to a deal that already included pitcher Ervin Santana and minor-league shortstop Erick Aybar.

The Washington Post reported today the Angels, Dodgers and Houston Astros remain the final three teams in the Tejada bidding.

If true, the Orioles would be insane not to take that offer.

Absolutely insane. Where do the Angels play Tejada, though? Would he agree to play 3B?
