Marmol

Marshall

Z

Barrett

Lee

Theriot

Murton

Three young pitchers and four hitters. Out of 25 guys, I can only cheer for 7! Unbelievable. The hitters are all people who are patient. I have tolerated Hendry and Baker the last year, but now is the time they all need to go.

Why anyone wouldn't cheer for Barrett in the middle of a career year, I don't understand.

And I cheer for all the young guys b/c I want them to get a lot of playing time and develop. Frankly, the only guys I'm not cheering are Neifi, 43, and JJ - b/c I never wanted any of them and I wish they weren't on the team. I hope they do well while they're here, only to increase their trade value (43 & JJ) or try to justify a contract they can never live up to (Neifi).

Hard to root for Dempster when he's been soooo bad lately that it almost seems like he is blowing games on purpose.

A-Ram is really a toss up. Seems like he loses his concentration way too often for an all-star caliber player.

There are seldom few guys on this team that I would not root for. Honestly right now the only guys I truly despise all that much are Neifi Perez and Glendon Rusch. Doesn't mean I love all the remaining players but typically there are only one or two bums on a given Cubs team that I dislike.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm cheering Dusty to have the worst season in baseball history.

I do applaud Dusty's new way to lose a ball game today. 2 Grand Poobah's in the same inning.

There's very few that I don't want to see do well...mostly crusty old veterans who are mediocre at best who get way too much playing time. But as a whole, I don't wish any of them ill...a player is player. They can't help it if they were put together on a poorly planned team.

Can anyone tell me why you wouldn't cheer for Jones? I understand many were against the signing, but he has had a good year. Him and Barret have been #1 and #1a as far as offensive production.

I don't see Henry Blanco mentioned anywhere. I really think he deserves some credit for what he has done. He really picked up offensively and has once again been nothing, but stellar at the catching position. He really seems to know his role. He always hustles....runs out everything.

Not too shabby for a back up catcher who is in his mid 30's.

I'm cheering for him to do well, but only b/c I want him traded. I don't think he's as good as he's been this year and I don't think he'll be this good for the next 2 years. So I'm hoping someone makes Hendry a deal he can't refuse.

I should add a few guys to the list like Erye, Howry, and Blanco.

I didn't include Cedano because I think he is getting a free pass. Murton struggles, he is out of the line up for a few days, Cedano stuggles and he is out there everyday. I know there is a difference in what to expect from a shortstop and left fielder, but Cedano makes more errors, and poor hitting then Murton.

Jones has had this me against the city of Chicago attitude since he got here. Now starting the year off playing bingo (.041 avg or whatever it was) has had him in the doghouse. Then when he plays well, he still has to bark at the crowd.

I was a big fan of Walker, but lately with his comments followed by his steller play tonight has made me cool on him a little. He did however move Pierre over twice tonight.

Regardless of his bat, my dad has suddenly decided to hate Barrett all because of the Pierzynski punch.

That punch made me love him ten times as much as I already did.

I root for

Z - because he's Z

Lee - still hoping he'll pick it back up by season's end

Barrett - having the best year of his life and shows some FIRE! and INTENSITY! (to borrow from cheapseats)

Eyre - he's good

Howry - he's good too

Jones - strangely fun to watch and seems like a pretty nice guy despite some things that have happened this year

Cedeno - young un

Murton - young un

and to a lesser extent Dempster, Marshall, Marmol, (insert young pitcher the Cubs have ignored here)
