It's been a brutal stretch lately, but I've enjoyed listening to you and Bob call the games. As I said elsewhere, Bob's tirade in the booth today was far more entertaining than the game on the field. :D

And your fun to listen to Len. Love your home run call!!

. . . too bad you don't have many exciting plays to call this year. .

I hope Len makes note of the awesome nsbb crew tuesday night in the bleachers.

Seconded!

Len, we'll be the ones with the bags on. (If we can find large enough bags... :x )

I'll see if the kids i work with at daycamp have big enough bags. Most of them have like a million things to eat.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Hang in there...I know you will...still have 88 to go.

It's good to see Len is thinking like Cubs fans are :D

Len's a great guy. 8)

But uh, how embarrassing is it that the play-by-play guy feels the need to apologize for the team? Hah. Silly me, I thought that was Hendry's job!

Ask for a raise Len. Bob too.

Hey Len. You guys do a great job. I didn't quite realize how good you were until I started using MLB.TV, and have to listen to the other announcers during away games. :)

Thanks for making the season more tolerable. Maybe you can ask Pat and Ron for some tips on horrible games...they certainly have the experience.

I watched part of the game. I remember Bob going off on the team for the repeated mistakes, including baserunning. He said something "even a healthy team couldn't win playing like this" and may have said the Cubs don't look like they want to win. I wasn't paying close attention though.

This is what I asked in the Len chat. Sounds like Bob may be getting close...

...

2. When the team you are being paid to call on a daily basis goes through a horrible streak where absolutely nothing goes right and they look like little leaguers, exactly how hard is it to not scream "YOU SUCK" into the microphone?

LEN: There are definitely times of major frustration, but I pride myself on trying to be fairly even keel and remembering that it’s a long season. Look, my passion for the Cubs has grown every single day since I took this job and I’m sure you’ll hear a little more excitement and a little more frustration as time goes on. I didn’t want to insult Cub fans last year by trying to overdo it and act like I’ve been here forever, because that’s not the case. I hope people understand my position on that. And along those lines, thanks for your patience. I’ve learned so much about the history of the Cubs and the landscape here over the past year and I hope to hope to continue to learn more and more every year. I want to be a part of this for the rest of my career if possible. We live here year-round and we want to be here for as long as we can.

If you didn't watch the game, you won't be able to appreciate the things that were said nearly as much.

There have been a lot of bad games this year, but the Sunday game ranks #1 in futility.

Todd Walker and Phil Nevin stood motionless as a ball slowly skipped right between them into RF. Since neither player touched the ball, an error was not charged. However, it should have been a double error.

The Jacque Jones throw to Henry Blanco should not have been charged as an error to Jacque, but it was anyway. It was a short hop (first bounce) about a foot in front of Blanco's glove. Since this is about the first time Jacque got a ball to roll all the way to the catcher this year, it's a shame that he got charged for an error.

Murton had a line drive base hit smack him in the bread basket, which allowed 2 runners to take an extra base.

Juan Pierre threw a ball home from shallow centerfield that couldn't even clear the mound.

Neifi botched what should have been an easy double play. Not only did he bobble the ball, but he was backing up rather than attacking the ball.

Neifi tossed a ball at Aramis sidearmed/underhand that was nowhere near the mark, which allowed a runner to score and everyone else to be safe and move up a base.

If that wasn't enough, the Cubs bats were shut out by +5 ERA junkballer, Brad Radke.

All of this on the day that Derrek Lee returned. The day that everyone seemed to be waiting for. There was no fire. There was no care. Everyone was a zombie out there, proving that whether Derrek is in the line up or not, this team is not going anywhere.

We didn't need this proof, but apparently Hendry and Dusty did. Worst game of the year in a year full of horrible games should have been the final bell for Hendry and his cronies. A knockout punch was scored that day, but instead of a 10 count, Hendry is getting a 50,000 count.

Let's give Hendry another extension today. Let's make it lifelong. It makes about as much sense as the last extension.

I've always enjoyed watching the Cubs, even when it's June and they're fifteen games out. This year, though, the prospect of suffering through 88 more games is less appealing then drinking a glass of lighter fluid.

Good luck with the rest of this season, Len. Because for me, the only good thing about Cubs baseball right now is that I can turn it off.

Hey Len, thanks for stopping by. :)

I used to be able to take the losing, but with the White Sox winning it all last year and the Cardinals and White Sox winning this year, I can't take it anymore. And don't be afraid to blast Dusty. Keep blasting away. You and Bob are a great broadcast team, the 1st broadcast team where I haven't had to mute the TV and turn on the radio.

Hey Everybody, just checking in...making the rounds on a couple boards just to see how everybody's doing (I think I have an idea unfortunately). You're the best fans in the world...I know this has been a brutal stretch. As always, I appreciate the passion and knowledge and just wanted to drop a line and say hi.

Cubs TV

Hi Len. Thanks for stopping by. This year is very hard to take. Both you and Bob are great broadcasters, and we hope you guys stay around for a while...hopefully long enough to witness and call a Cubs World Series win! Boy did I get carried away!! :D

Hey Len,

Can you please help me understand why Neifi continuously bats second? I just can't seem to figure it out.

Did you really mute Steve Stone?

Yes. I would mute the TV and listen to the radio b/c Chip Carry was really annoying to me.

Wow. Thanks for the recap, and I sure am glad I missed this game. I can't remember the last time a team has lacked fundamentals the way this team does.
